This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Abdus Salam
International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), a celebration
of six decades of groundbreaking contributions to scientific
research and education worldwide.

The ICTP is a world-leading research and education centre. ICTP
combines excellence in the physical and mathematical sciences with
capacity building and support for scientists, particularly those
from developing countries, and global exchanges via conferences,
dialogue and degree programmes. Founded in 1964 by the late Nobel
Laureate Abdus Salam, ICTP is located in Trieste, Italy and is
funded by the Italian government, UNESCO and IAEA. It is home to
187 researchers from 44 countries, including 80 postgraduate
students housed across the city. Over the past 60 years, ICTP has
hosted over 130,000 scientific visits from about 188 countries
around the world. ICTP is a vibrant and inspiring academic
community where the next generation of scientists rub shoulders
with cutting-edge researchers.

ICTP's commitment and contribution to world-class research have
been reinforced through new initiatives in quantitative life
sciences, high-performance computing, renewable energies, and
quantum technology. It has also launched programmes to advance
women in science. ICTP has increased its presence in the developing
world with the opening of four partner institutes in Brazil, China,
Mexico and Rwanda.

ICTP has nurtured philanthropic relationships with supporters
over a number of years; donors include the Simons Foundation, the
Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, and the Arab
Fund for Economics and Social Development. Fundraising and
engagement activity is run from Trieste with transnational giving
conducted via the King Baudouin Foundation. The institution desires
to enhance its fundraising, supporter and alumni activities, and
now seeks to identify the individual to lead this programme
building upon the work and expansion of our donor base that we have
achieved over the last few years.

This is a pioneering opportunity within the global higher
education advancement sector. This role has the potential for a
high degree of impact for ICTP. The successful candidate will
demonstrate an exceptional track record in fundraising leadership,
with expertise in major gift fundraising and building effective
long-term philanthropic relationships. You will be passionate about
the values and mission of ICTP and well-attuned to working across
different cultures. You will relish building an advancement
infrastructure and philanthropic culture to fulfil the ambitions of
the institution.

ICTP is the Category I Institute of UNESCO, therefore, the
selected candidate with have the employment contract with
UNESCO.
