Legal Counsel

EP Commodities, a. s. is a joint-stock company specializing in trading in energy commodities, which mainly involves whole-sale transactions with natural gas, electricity, emission allowances, crude oil (both financially) and other products (e.g. dark and spark spreads, options) throughout the European regions.The Company is part of the EPH Group, Energetický a průmyslový holding, a. s., which is a leading European energy group that owns and operates facilities in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland. Legal Counsel

EPC Legal is responsible for all legal and legal related matters such as contract revision, corporate matters, as well as regulatory agenda. EPC Legal team provides commercially focused legal support to other teams and cooperates with EPH Group lawyers in legal matters relating to commodity trading as well as in compliance agenda. This is a diverse, complex, and often unpredictable portfolio of challenges. Together with the grow of the company and new projects across Europe we are searching for a more experienced colleague to join our Legal team.

Role and responsibilities:

• Provide support to various departments and/or management in complex corporate & commercial matters.
• Communication with service providers, review, and negotiation of various service type agreements to reflect our needs, incl. SaaS and corresponding IT/IP rights matters.
• Provide support in non-energy compliance matters, e.g. GDPR, Cyber Security (NIS2), Whistleblowing, ESG.
• Cooperation with external legal counsels, especially in corporate matters relevant to firm’s foreign branches or within groupwide projects.
• Structuring of intragroup contractual set-up, prepare SLAs and other intragroup agreements.
• Monitor legal developments; evaluate impacts on business strategies, advising management on legal matters.
• Evaluate legal and regulatory issues and cooperate with other firm’s departments.

Qualification criteria:

• University degree (Czech law faculty)
• At least 5 - 7 years of related experience in a top tier law firm and/or as in-house counsel, preferably in Energy/Finance
• Proficient knowledge of MS Office
• Independent and reliable person who can find practical legal solutions with keeping attention to detail
• Knowledge of English at least C1 according to ERP
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills, ability to communicate openly across the company
• Able to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
