We are now looking for a colleague to join our team as Mechanical Design Engineer in Tognana, Piove di Sacco, Italy.
Your Core Responsibilities:
- To work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team on global products (cooling units for Data Center) focusing on high-performance, cost-effective design and market leading innovation.
- To design new products or re-engineer existing ones, with a focus on the mechanical aspects (mainly sheet metal, piping), collaborating with suppliers, Procurement and Industrial Engineering, being aware of the necessary product marketing inputs.
- To support product production transfer from and to other locations, interface with main center of expertise, understand and manage bill of materials.
- To create and review product documentation (CAD drawings, specifications, customer’s submittals).
- To meet objectives of cost, quality, environment and time of execution, achieving the best trade-off between market and internal customer needs.
- To analyze and resolve technical problems as regards products under his/her responsibility.
- A high level of experienced CAD skill, combined with a good attention to detail.
- Availability to travel on request between the Italian HQ (base) and worldwide Vertiv production facility.
In order to be successful in this role you will need to have:
- Technical Diploma or Bachelor degree (3 years) in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 4 years of previous working experience on similar activities, ideally in the HVAC sector.
- Excellent knowledge of 3D CAD & PLM systems, particularly PTC Creo, Solid Edge, Microsoft Office tools and strong attitude in Excel.
- Good knowledge of thermodynamics and refrigeration principles are desirable but not essential.
- English –Good level – Written and spoken.
- Know-how of liquid chillers/air conditioning/refrigeration products is required.
- Competences: result-oriented, team player, careful to details, flexible, attitude for teamwork.
- Communication: demonstrates excellent listening and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Initiative: works independently and is highly motivated to initiate and accept new challenges.
- Imagination / Problem Solving: able to asses problems, break them down into component issues and determine appropriate timely and cost effective solutions.
