Job Description

Manager/Discipline Leader of the Mechanical Equipment & Packages team in Milano office:

  • Collaboration with the discipline leaders in other locations, contributing to a cohesive and standardized approach across the organization.
  • Member of the unit management team and acts as a deputy in related areas.
  • Contributes to defining and implementing the department's strategy.
  • Leads a diverse team in various tasks within a specific subject area.
  • Provides technical and disciplinary leadership to staff, including training and resource optimization.
  • Ensures effective communication with staff and supervisors.
  • Cross check and approval of technical documentation within the discipline
  • Actively supports project execution.
  • Actively supports tendering within a specific subject area.
  • Is responsible for the timely ordering and delivery of systems and components within budgetary constraints.
  • Ensures timely availability of deliverables for all execution projects.
  • Actively track budgeted hours and cost with his team members and take necessary actions when required
  • Ensures quality of engineering deliverables in the specific discipline.
  • Plans resource allocation for employees in the group.
  • Manages the selection and hiring process, in coordination with the Global discipline leader.
  • Develops individual employee development plans and career paths.
  • Drives continuous improvement within the department.
  • Develops guidelines and specifications for specific subject areas.
  • Establishes internal guidelines and directives for the group.
  • Collaborates on standardization efforts within the product responsibility scope and implements them within their area of responsibility.
  • Assumes responsibility for the quality of work within the group.
  • Adheres to and implements relevant HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) requirements
  • Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree in the field of mechanical engineering or technical diploma
  • > 4 years of extensive experience in the role of the Mechanical Discipline Group Leader
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, including engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and commissioning.
  • Proven track record of executing projects, with a strong focus on plant engineering.
  • Skilled in motivating and leading employees within their area of responsibility.
  • Able to leverage their experience to shape their sphere of influence and gain buy-in from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capable of evaluating multiple operational solution paths and making informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in employing sophisticated methodologies to tackle complex problems and successfully implement solutions.
  • Takes decisions independently and in a timely manner within pre-determined limits
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experienced in using project management tools
  • Good cost awareness
  • Systematic and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent English communication skills
