Senior Data Engineer

We are Smartpricing, and we support small and medium-sized accommodation providers with solutions to help them fight back against the huge hotel chains. We started in 2020 by providing these companies with a dynamic pricing manager which can update room prices 100 times per day, and increase revenue by 30%. We were named one of Italy’s top start-ups in 2023, and are the fastest growing B2B SaaS company in the accommodation space in both revenue and number of clients. Today we are working with over 3000 companies in over 17 countries, and steadily growing. Yet, this is only the start of our journey. 

We are looking to launch a suite of new products and focus on internationalizing our reach further. We aim to work with 5000 SMB clients by the end of this year, and aim to keep our 100% growth rate up well into next year. This means we have a very exciting time ahead of us, and require to work with some of the best people the tech industry has. 

Our technology team is building a platform of solutions that will help accommodation providers optimise the way they run their business. We are investing a lot in R&D with the intention to double the amount of products we host on our platform by the end of the year, and as such we  are expanding our engineering team. 

We are looking for an experienced Seniorn Data Engineer to join us on our exciting journey. You will be the point of reference on everything data related, reviewing data structures, building data warehouses and data lakes and creating standardised company data for use of internal analysis. You will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders and other members of the tech and data science team, building technological solutions which impact data availability and sets a new standard for data access across the company.

You will be responsible for: 

• Setting new standards for data: choosing the tooling and re-building data structures to meet the needs of the company as we move into high growth 

• Owning all data related processes: Building and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes

• Ensure accessibility to data: Standardise and make company data available for analysis

• Collaborative working: Understand the needs of senior stakeholders and work with with RnD, data science and data analysts to provide data needed for executing product and business strategy 

• Experience as a Data Engineer in a start-up or scale-up environment 

• Experience building data structures and standardising data 

• In depth experience with Python and Pyspark 

• Experience working with big data and analytics tools 

• Experience managing data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes concepts and technologies (e.g Airflow, Big Query)
