Job description


To establish the IKEA Brand as the preferred choice in home furnishing products and solutions that create a better everyday life for the many people, thereby reaching the IKEA business objectives.

This shall occur by:


  • stimulating home furnishing interest in each local market
  • securing a strong brand and competitive position in each local market
  • driving traffic to the IKEA store and IKEA website by attracting new and more visitors to visit more often, and throughout their life stages.

Key Assignments of the function:


  • Contribute to IKEA by helping people to make well founded decisions, based on reliable, actionable, and timely insights.
  • Provide consumer and market insights to contribute to IKEA's direction, strategies, and plans.
  • Source, manage, and share all consumer and market data in the most efficient, reliable, and timely manner.

Responsibilities:


  • Obtain and Secure updated and timely information, data, and insights about the local, regional, and global markets and consumers through both internal and external sources.
  • Drive strategic analysis of the research findings and KPIs by leveraging consumer insights. In co-operation with key stakeholders ensure that conclusions are understood and used. Build insightful future scenarios with a main focus on the market, competitors, consumers, and customers.
  • Lead the dialogue and cooperation among all stakeholders (internal and external) who contribute to research results, metrics, and data. These include media agencies and suppliers of standard research such as Consumer Tracker, web/social analytics, etc.
  • Provide support for competence and accessibility to the market intelligence information/insights within the organization (e.g. service office functions and store managers).
  • Plan, create, develop, and maintain a process of market monitoring and reports generating in respect to social, local, and demographic trends, and local and regional economies for each market.
  • Present professional recommendations based on findings from the monitoring process and IKEA strategy.
  • Identify opportunities due to changes in the market
  • Identify, follow, and monitor trends, global, regional, or local, not only connected to the Home Furnishing or Retail markets, but connected to people. Understanding the impact these trends can have on people behaviors and aspirations

Desired Skills and Experience:


  • Exceptional analytical, communication and presentation skills along with the ability to effectively influence via cross-functional partnerships, collaborations, and relationship building.
  • Ability to comfortably communicate with and present to senior management team members.
  • 5+ years experience in research. In retail, it would be a plus.
  • Proficiency with large datasets and data tools (e.g., CRM, social listening tools)
  • Track record of synthesizing inputs, drawing insights, and communicating to appropriate stakeholders throughout the company
  • Experience working successfully within a matrixed organization.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team or teams, working in multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, BA, or Sociology may be a plus
  • Experience in a similar role is a plus. Ie: Market Analyst in a bank, consulting, or research company.
