School Nurse (female), IMMEDIATE START (May )

We are looking to hire a dedicated School Nurse to join us at the  American Creativity Academy ! 

The position is located on our Salmiya Boys' Middle/High School and is for an immediate start (May 2024).

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. He / she should be efficient in office management skills, including the safe keeping of records and supplies. Cooperative and skillful in collaboration with staff and students.

Education/Experience

• Nursing Diploma or Bachelors of Nursing.
• License as a Registered Nurse or equivalent in Kuwait.
• Minimum of one year experience as a nurse. 
• Must be in Kuwait with transferrable residency (Articles 18/22).

Language Experience

• Fluent in speaking and writing the English and Arabic language. 
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in Arabic and English. 
• Ability to write simple correspondence. 
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. 
• Excellent organizational and office skills.

G eneral  Responsibilities

1. To implement and supervise a comprehensive student health program under the supervision of the Campus Supervisor.

2. Provide ongoing medical, health maintenance and/or instruction, and furnish necessary first aid services to students.

Specific  Responsibilities

Maintains health files and records of all students as required by Kuwait law and school procedures. Updates and follows up on immunization records. Assists the Ministry of Health on any vaccination campaign.

1. Submits a purchase order for all needed health supplies and medicine. Informs the Campus Supervisor of any eventual needs during the year. Ensures that the clinic is fully stocked at all times.

1. Is responsible for the hygiene and housekeeping of the clinic, bed sheets, and sterilization of equipment and other related health requirements.

1. Generates an updated list of students that who require special medical attention or intervention when needed. Provides list to Principals, counselors, teachers and Campus Supervisor. Ensures that respective teachers are informed of procedure to be taken with each case.

1. Administers an annual check-up for all students during the first quarter of the academic school year and updates health files accordingly. The annual check-up includes screening for visual impairment, lice check, development of child in height and weight, and assists a visiting dentist in a dental check-up for cavities.

1. Reports to the Principals, Campus Supervisor, and the parents any school-wide or citywide health problems or communicable diseases and recommends appropriate action.

1. Maintain the Principals, Campus Supervisor, and Health Officer informed of any visits from the Ministry of Education or Ministry of Health along with copies of any reports provided to the ministries. 

1. Plans individually and with teachers to provide meaningful health education for students, maids, and other workers.

1. Provides Principals and teachers with an updated list of all students who require special medical attention (i.e., students who suffer from asthma, diabetes, hypertension, etc.)

1. .Ensures that all students and teachers are informed regarding the procedures to follow in case of injury or illness and situations, which warrant medical attention and/or concerns of the parents.

1. Provides necessary first-aid treatment, necessary assistance to diabetic or students who have asthma. Maintains readily available medical equipment and supplies.

1. Coordinates with the counselor on students who show excessive medical complaints (headaches, stomachaches).

1. Reports to Campus Supervisor and respective principal any sign of home negligence or child abuse. 

1. Administers medications as directed by physicians and/or approved by the parents of the child.

1. Maintains a record of any accidents occurring during the school day along with actions taken to remedy the situation. Prepares and submits accident reports with full details to the Principal, Campus Supervisor, and Health & Safety Officer.

1. Attends seminars to remain up-to-date on current health issues.

1. Performs other health-related duties or health instruction as directed by the Principals, Campus Supervisor, and/or Health & Safety Officer.

Salary range is 350 KWD - 460 KWD per month, depending upon educational credentials and years of related experience.
