Details of the Division and Team: Custody Operations is responsible for delivering services related to Custodial function for Securities Services. As Head of Custody operations, the main responsibilities are to lead all aspect of Settlement and Asset Services activities within Malaysia operations. The role is also responsible for driving transformation and continuous improvement, leading programs or projects. The role also manages and foster relationships with various stakeholders and/or vendors. The role creates robust management and team structures through rigorous recruitment & people development initiatives, ensuring the team is positioned well to execute a high standard of delivery and results within a controlled environment. The individual has accountability for budgets, risk control framework, vendor relationship and cost management. Role will lead by example in supporting the Bank-wide regulatory agenda, being proactive in the recognition and management of risk, leading or sponsoring change programs. The Custody Head is also responsible for the performance of teams, supervisors, and individual contributors in that any operational and transactional processes under the teams’ remit are performed within agreed service level, policies and procedures. The role ensures that key process and risk indicators, controls, service level agreements and vendor management are adhered to and evidenced; this includes creating a strong culture of risk mitigation and management.

Your key responsibilities:

Full accountability and responsibility for providing operational excellence around the day-to-day processing activities of Custody operations in Malaysia and to ensure that all services commitments and deliverable to our clients are met. Monitor and implement changes in operating procedures that ensure the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of all processes. Effectively monitor and lead change environment which would include improvement of processes and procedures, introduction of new products, client migration and to convert client requirement into operational delivery. Set KPI benchmarks and monitor deliverables against the KPI benchmarks. Continuously monitor various risk parameters and ensure that processes are designed to adhere compliance to internal risk management policies and meet the regulatory requirement. Ensure compliance, audit and security requirements are met. Drive a risk-focused culture across area of responsibility, ensuring risk items identified are tracked to remediation. Senior point of contact for escalated operational issues. Participate in various RfP and client due diligence. The candidate will be part of the local Operations Management team and will also represent Operations in various local committees. Represents company at industry and associations events. Ensure the ongoing training & development of staff on operating procedures & regulatory requirements. Lead and build a high-performance team which is aligned to department objectives and deliverables. Ensure efficient team structure through effective resource management, focusing on ensuring correct skills for roles and optimum resourcing level for the team under your remit. Motivate, challenge, and ensure employees are cross trained as required to fulfill their roles. Develop talent management plan to ensure we attract and retain top talent to the group & have effective management succession needs for all critical roles.

Your skills and experience:

Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant banking experience with knowledge and experience of working in an operations environment. Proven track record in leading and motivating teams. A high degree of accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail. Project Management Experience eg. AGILE method. Extensive analytical skills and solution-oriented problem solving. Distinct client and service orientation. Proactive and self-driven, who appreciate the challenging and dynamic business within a matrix organization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and fluent in both written and verbal.
