Managing Director

SICK is looking for an experienced Managing Director for our Manufacturing Plant in Johor Bahru, who would be part of the Management Team of SICK Regional Product Center(RPC).

In this position, you would take full ownership of all site functions and to lead the transformation that focuses on increasing profitability, engagement of employees, diversifying the customer base, overhauling the supply chain, and defining the structure through implementation of systems and processes that fits the business.

There will be a strong focus on Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery through coaching, mentoring & developing a team to deliver SICK's strategic site-based objectives, along with a focus on driving improvements using lean manufacturing principles.

You will also be able to balance both a hands-on and strategic approach to ensure there is a clear business strategy whilst ensuring everyday operations are keeping up with the demand of the customer.

Your Challenge:

• Prepare agenda for regular and special Board meetings in accordance with corporate and statutory requirements
• Perform specific and delegated duties within limit by Board policies or by law, that are assigned and/or approved by the Board, as set forth in minutes of regular and special meetings or whenever tasked with special assignment
• May delegate portion of responsibilities, when necessary, but may not delegate overall responsibility for results nor any portion of accountability
• Submit the consolidated annual budget and proposed capital acquisition budget and extraordinary expenditure programs to the Board for approval. Managing expenditures as approved in budget. Report program progress to the Board
• Establish strong network within SICK (various hierarchy levels) to align and attain the goals of the Board and Business Clusters
• Ensures the achievement of site goals and objectives through the implementation of manufacturing and site development plans
• Provides leadership and strategic guidance for strategic and operational projects linked to Malaysia, the Asian region or a Business Cluster to ensure timely execution and target achievement
• Together with the Business Unit Operations Managers establishes site annual operating plan, budget, financial reporting, and forecasting to achieve sustainable profitability
• Is responsible and accountable for the overall site operational performance on cost, quality and delivery performance
• Ensures that production plans are met with the most productive cost and that customer delivery and quality requirements are satisfied
• Provide leadership to the completion of new product transfers, qualifications and high volume production output
• Develop and implement strategies to continuously improve productivity and efficiency inside the whole site
• Focuses on yield improvements to achieve cost of poor quality target
• Assure effective administration and management of the organization through the application of management principles within established guidelines
• Promote and instill strong collaborative culture of various functions including the R&D, Strategic Procurement and Product Management based in Product Center Singapore and Product Center China for common innovation
• Drives the implementation of Continuous Improvement (Six Sigma and Lean) programs
• Promote continuous learning culture throughout the organization
• Manage, build and maintained a strong team of leaders of positive skills, analytical and with good manufacturing acumen combined with high level of competency to deliverable results
• Ensures that effective measurement and control, scorecards and metrics are in place
• Ensures that the quality management systems requirements are abide in accordance with the required International Standards and customer requirements
• Periodically review and adjust policies in order to meet necessary standards, recommendations, or requirements for accreditation, certification, licensure, or accreditation by other voluntary and government agencies
• Serve as the chief public relations officer of the Company. Maintain contacts with members, other corporations, business associations, government agencies, and academic institutions

Your Experience & Qualifications:

• Advanced Degree /MBA in any Engineering, Science, Supply Chain or related field
• At least 15 years of senior managerial experience in high volume manufacturing environment with exposure to financial accountability with 10 years at Director level
• Lean management skills & experience (6 sigma, 5S, Kaizen). Demonstrated success in continuous cost reduction – both procurement-based material savings and labor cost savings
• Experience with compliance standards & processes such as ISO9001
• Experience moving existing production and intralogistics processes to Industry 4.0/Digital processes
• Multi-national corporations work exposure with strong ability to work with international colleagues, the corporate headquarter team and R&D for results
• Proven leadership track record, drive, execution and problem-solving abilities to meet engineering, operational and business goals in a dynamic & evolving environment
• Ideally possess Six-Sigma black belt certification and advantage with extensive experience in TPM and DFM methodologies are added advantage
