R&D Executive

Kenangan Coffee is a brand under Kenangan who owns Kopi Kenangan in Indonesia. We are the first F&B unicorn in SEA. Since we launched our first coffee retail outlet in KLCC Malaysia in Oct 2022; we have since grown to more than 45 coffee chains and we are still expanding.

As our R&D (Research and Development) Executive, you will be responsible for creating new food and beverage products, improving existing products, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to innovate, formulate, and commercialize food products that meet consumer needs and market demands.

Working location: Damansara Utama, Malaysia

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Degree holder in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Prior experience in beverage (coffee)/ food product development or R&D function within the F&B (Food and beverage) retail industry would be an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheet on formulas such as: vlookup, hlookup, pivot table, etc.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and compliance.
• Creative thinking, problem-solving mindset, and passion for innovation in the F&B industry.

Job Role:

• Develop new and improved methods on F&B processing, production, quality control, and packaging (e.g flavour, color, texture, nutrition, etc).
• Provide suggestions and create new F&B menu (include limited time offer (LTO), seasonal menu, etc), promotion programs, suppliers list, and other product development-related support.
• Execute new product development processes, from conception to commercialization, apply scientific principles in processing and functionality of beverage.
• Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify consumer preferences, market gaps, and emerging trends in the food industry.
• Test the new recipe, equipments, and other related matters for improvement on existing products and processes.
• Analyze product and sales performance for product improvement.
• Calculate the COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) and initiate cost imrpovement for new and existing products.
• Manage project timelines, highlights, and mitigate project risks as well as assisting with quality testing of current products.
• Prepare R&D reports and accurate records of R&D activities, including recipe bank, experimental procedures, test results, and project timelines.
• Collaborate with marketing, quality, and operations team to to align product development efforts with market trends, consumer insights, and brand strategies.
