Commissioning Manager (Based at Sedenak,Johor, Malaysia)

This position is for K2 Data Centres, a company under Kuok (Singapore) Limited, based in Sedenak, Johor, Malaysia.

Purpose of the Role :

We are looking for a Commissioning Manager for the validation of data centres to function with excellent quality and delivered to optimize Client experience.

Responsibilities :

• Take on the role of a safety leader and foster a culture of safety, security, and compliance throughout all aspects of data center commissioning and integration.
• Establish standardized processes for commissioning and continuously strive for improvement. Enhance the commissioning program to ensure higher levels of safety, quality, and efficiency while minimizing schedule and cost.
• Collaborate with project managers to develop customized commissioning plans for individual projects.
• Create acceptance tests and commissioning scripts, overseeing the completion of Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including D&E and Critical Operations, to successfully deliver data centers.
• Work closely with the general contractor, architect, and engineers to lead the project closeout process.
• Capture valuable lessons learned from commissioning, integration, and closeout activities, and ensure that these insights are integrated into the VDC Basis of Design for future projects.
• Lead and collaborate with a diverse team of experts from various departments, such as Environmental Health and Safety, Strategy, Development, Critical Operations, Technical Operations, Information Technology, Physical Security, Finance, and Accounting, to transform a facility under construction into a fully operational, world-class data center that is ready for service and meets clients' expectations.
• Develop, standardize, optimize, and automate processes to support a successful Ready For Service (RFS) phase.
• Develop and review design standards, specifications, and operational procedures to ensure consistency and maximize the reliability of systems.
• Ensure the smooth transfer of ownership for the Safety-in-Design (SiD) final report from the Development team to Critical Operations.
• Validate data center infrastructure asset information, ensuring accurate recording and providing necessary documentation to Critical Operations.
• Provide support during Critical Operations emergencies on an as-needed basis.
• Travel within the region to support engineering initiatives, conduct system assessments, perform startup testing, and facilitate the commissioning and turnover process to Critical Operations as required.
• Walking job sites which have areas of uneven terrain.
• Work at heights.
• Regularly lift and/or move items and participate in group lifts.
• Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration.
• Co-ordinate body movements when using tools or equipment.
• May require bending or twisting the body to access equipment while working.
• Involves performing physical tasks all day.
• Push or pull objects into position.
• Work in a noisy environment.
• Work in confined spaces.

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in testing and commissioning of data centers
• Certified Data Center Professional and in Project Management
• Managed start-up, testing and commissioning standard procedures in collaboration with our local commissioning technicians and CX agents on the customer site, managing testing and commissioning based on ASHRAE L1 to L5 test scripts
• Has achieved enhancement and streamline of processes, procedures, responsibility matrix and tools used during a project’s start-up, testing and commissioning phases
