Job Purpose:
To lead HVAC department and oversee mechanical engineer design work, provides support for the on time/on budget delivery of projects, whilst meeting all safety, environmental, energy and quality objectives of assigned projects under supervision of MEP Manager, Project Manager’s, and Engineering Director.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Undertaking engineering activities such as AHU zoning, air handling schematics development, HVAC calculations, HVAC equipment placement, ductwork sizing & routing, supply air and return grille location, material construction datasheet, and material specifications.
- Preparation and checking of concept designs & design basis report with recommendation of suitable HVAC system and getting the approval and coordination with client.
- Preparation and checking of Basic and Detail Engineering design drawings, related specifications, equipment selection criteria and calculations as per the approved conceptual design.
- Assist Mechanical/HVAC Engineer and Mechanical/HVAC drafter in checking design deliverables document and design drawings for various type of projects.
- Actively involved in coordination work between various disciplines such as Architect, Process and Utility, Automation, Electrical & ELV and Fire protection under supervision of MEP Manager.
- Participate in the conceptual HVAC design for cleanroom manufacturing design and attend site visit to client manufacturing plant in local / overseas when required.
- Generate estimates for engineering workload and schedules and work closely with Project Managers.
- Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies as needed to determine the simplest and most efficient solutions to engineering challenges.
- Produce designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on the project
- Check vendor submittals and engineering drawings for errors and fitness for purpose
- Assist in implementing improvements with emphasis on reliability, energy efficiency and life cycle costs
- Ensure deliverables meet the scope and client expectations.
- Troubleshoot and solve client existing equipment and/or operating utility system problems
- Assist in preparing installation and commissioning test documents
- Support procurement activities, including coordination with vendors and vendors drawing reviews.
- Utilize design codes, client standards, industry guidelines and follow established design criteria
- Assist in planning the work and track and report work in progress for own work in the mechanical team
- Identify and resolve client design errors, open issues, or conflicting information on projects.
- Familiarity with the use of design and drafting standards and GMP requirements
- Familiarity with project scope, specifications, and design criteria when assigned to projects.
- Comply with and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Synertec Quality Management System and Company Values.
- Seconded services to customer projects as deemed necessary.
- Other project related tasks as deemed necessary.
Qualification:
- Minimum BSc./B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering with 6 years’ related experience or Diploma in Mechanical
- Engineering with 10 years’ related experience in HVAC design in cleanroom / pharmaceutical industry.
Skills:
- Experience in HVAC systems including calculations for heat load psychrometric chart, air balancing, mass balancing line sizing and duct sizing.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCad and Naviswork.
- Knowledge of international standards such as ISPE, PIC/S, GMP, ISO 14644, NEBB, SMACNA, AHRI, CTI, FM, ASME, AMCA, ASHRAE and MASHRAE
- Comfortable working alone or in a team environment, maintain a positive and professional relationships with co-workers and management and able to coach junior staff on technical questions
- Excellent planning and organization skills
- Microsoft office experience is required
