Management (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics)

• Maintenance and Reliability: Ensuring the proper maintenance of equipment and machinery is critical to prevent breakdowns and minimize downtime. Your objective is to develop and implement a robust maintenance program to enhance the reliability and longevity of plant assets. 
• Production Efficiency: Your main goal is to maximize the plant's production output while minimizing downtime and reducing production costs. You'll be responsible for streamlining processes, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring that the plant operates at its highest efficiency levels.
• Supporting the Head of Production to achieve best Practice Fuel and Power consumption in the Modern 2 Kiln Line. 
• Develop a strong Process Department to improve efficiency and reduce costs while using Alternative Fuels.
• Focus on improving Cement Mill Performance to reduce Power costs and increase the Output of the Plant.
• Use specialist help where required to improve Overall Performance with reaching target OEE.
• To carry out any other duties as directed by the Company Management.

Managerial (Team/Group Responsibilities):

• Show strong Leadership in the Plant supporting the Teams while maintaining good discipline in attendance and timekeeping.
• Focus on Team Development following clear Objectives for 5S, HSE, Cost Reduction, Customer Service, and People Development.
• Work closely with the Head of Manufacturing to develop skills and systems in the Plant which will give a good foundation for the future of Hume Cement.
• Health and Safety: Safety is of utmost importance in any industrial setting, and a cement plant is no exception. As an Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for creating and enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety training for staff, and fostering a safety-oriented culture.
• Budget Management: Part of your role will involve managing the plant's budget effectively. This includes controlling operational costs, overseeing procurement processes, and optimizing resource allocation.
• Communication and Reporting: Keeping open lines of communication with senior management and other stakeholders is vital. You'll need to provide regular reports on production, performance, safety, and other key metrics.

Organizational (Organizational Responsibilities):

• Team Management: As a leader, you'll be responsible for managing and motivating a team of supervisors, engineers, operators, and other personnel. Your goal is to foster a cohesive and productive work environment, delegate tasks effectively, and provide guidance to ensure the team's success. 
• Environmental Compliance: Cement plants can have a significant environmental impact, and it's essential to comply with environmental regulations. Your objective is to implement sustainable practices and ensure the plant adheres to all relevant environmental standards. 
• Continuous Improvement: Striving for continuous improvement is essential in a dynamic industry. Your objective is to identify areas for enhancement, implement best practices, and drive overall operational excellence.

Requirement

• A bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably in chemical, mechanical, or industrial engineering) is typically required.
• Specialized training or certifications in plant operations, process optimization, or quality management may be advantageous.
• Significant experience (usually at least 10-15 years) in cement manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience in plant operations, including knowledge of kiln operations, grinding, raw material preparation, and quality control processes.
• Experience in a managerial or supervisory role, demonstrating leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.
• In-depth understanding of cement manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies.
• Proficiency in process optimization techniques to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to cement manufacturing operations.
• Strong leadership qualities to motivate and manage a diverse team of operators, technicians, and support staff.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders, including production staff, maintenance teams, suppliers, and management.
• Ability to develop and implement operational strategies, goals, and KPIs to drive performance and meet production targets.
• Effective problem-solving skills to address operational challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
