SVP, Data Scientist

JOB PURPOSE

Leading a team of data scientist for Big Data and Artificial Intelligent / Machine Learning (AI/ML) for Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (PMB). This role will define the overall data strategy for Prasarana, collaborate with other Business Units to align all data initiatives aligning to their business objectives / KPIs and ensures Prasarana data meets the quality standard. The incumbent focus is on enabling a data self-serve best practice in the organization, influencing business-led data innovation culture and governance, build a high-performing data science team and leveraging expertise in AI/ML solutions and service across multi-cloud platforms. The incumbent will also provide the right mentorship and ensuring the team has all necessary resources and support to execute data-related projects successfully.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of data scientist, fostering a high-performing team, provides mentorship and instill collaborative, highly innovative and productive work environment.
• Provide guidance on project execution, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.

AI/ML Solutions Development

• Lead the design and development of advanced AI/ML solutions to address challenges specific to the transportation industry.
• Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for AI/ML applications that enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.

Data Democratization

• Enable a self-serve approach to data by developing tools and platforms that empower team members to access, analyze, and derive insights independently.
• Implement training program to enhance data literacy and encourage self-sufficiency in data utilization.

Citizen-Led Data Innovation

• Influence and champion a culture of citizen-led data innovation, encouraging team members to contribute ideas and insights.
• Collaborative with stakeholders to implement initiatives that empower individuals to participate in data-driven initiatives.

Collaborative and Communication

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects and business stakeholders to ensure the successful of integration of AI/ML solutions.
• Communicate complex data science concepts and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Continuous Learning

• Pursue continuous learning and professional development, staying updated on the latest trend, best practices and tools in data science and AI/ML.
• Share knowledge with the team and contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Continuous R&D in AI/ML field and acts as the subject matter expert for Ai/ML in Prasarana
• Interface the industry for latest know-how and knowledge of technology trends and its impact to the industry globally / regionally / locally.

Qualifications, Skills, Competencies & Knowledge :

• Hold a Bachelor's or Master's in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics of any related field.
• Possess more than five (5) years of experience in a data science role, with a focus on applying analytics in the transportation industry will be an add advantage.

Functional Competencies :

• Advance-level proficiency in statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Demonstrate expertise in machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and data analysis techniques, particularly in the context of the transportation industry.
• Provide guidance on the application of advanced statistical and machine learning methods to solve complex business problems.
• Strong ability to collaborate with and influence non-technical stakeholders in data-driven decision-making.

Technical Knowledge

• Showcase advanced proficiency in Azure AI and Azure Machine Learning solutions and services within Microsoft Azure Cloud.
• Additional proficiency in AWS Cloud and Google Cloud AI/ML solutions is considered a significant advantage.
