JOB PURPOSE
To assist Rolling Stock Engineer in planning and managing Rolling Stocks corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, and overhaul maintenance activities based on engineering disciplines (Electrical, Electronic, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical and Mechatronic). To ensure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures, meeting Safety and Regulatory requirements in ensuring trains' electrical subsystem and interrelated subsystem, maintenance floor, electrical equipment & machineries availability and reliability.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operation & Maintenance
- To assist Rolling Stock Engineer in strategizing, developing and reviewing Rolling Stock maintenance plan in order to ensure the performance objectives are met.
- Establish an effective planning strategy to assist Rolling Stock Engineer in planning the allocation of manpower and resources to optimize department productivity.
- Ensure the effective control of maintenance records for future reference and to support data analysis, technical investigation and audit.
- Assist Rolling Stock Engineer to manage departmental procurement process and ensure the availability of spare parts in ensuring the maintenance activities could be carried out effectively to minimize system downtime.
- To assist Rolling Stock Engineer in controlling and monitoring maintenance activity of the equipment that belongs under custodian of Department in order to ensure its serviceability to support Train operation.
- Provide support in troubleshooting the repetitive or prolong system failure and monitor the effectiveness of the solution to ensure the system downtime could be minimized.
Preventive Maintenance
- To assist Rolling Stock Engineer in strategizing, planning and managing resources requirements & availability (manpower, tools and equipment, parts, training) to undertake corrective and preventive maintenance work at depot based on preventive maintenance plan and work schedule.
- Control the implementation of Preventive Maintenance work conducted by maintenance team and provides technical advice and coaching to ensure work done according to SOP and Preventive Maintenance Plan and Schedule.
- Ensure rectifications work on defects is attended to immediately upon detecting defect (corrective maintenance) during Preventive Maintenance inspection activities.
- Review monthly Preventive Maintenance reports to ensure works done are as per Preventive Maintenance Plan and Schedule, work within timeline and budget as well as to identify persistent/repetitive/predictive problems to be highlighted to Maintenance Analysis personnel for action.
Corrective Maintenance
- To assist Rolling Stock Engineer in strategizing, planning and managing resources requirements & availability (manpower, tools and equipment, parts, training) to undertake corrective maintenance work at depot/revenue line upon receiving train failure report.
- Control the implementation of Corrective Maintenance work conducted by sub-ordinates and provides technical advice and coaching to ensure work done according to SOP.
- Ensure rectification works on defects are attended to immediately to minimizing downtime and no disruption to train services.
- Review Failure Analysis reports to analyse root cause and propose Preventive Maintenance works to prevent reoccurrence and lesson learnt.
Overhaul Maintenance Works
- To assist Rolling Stock Engineer in planning and managing resources requirements & availability (manpower, tools and equipment, parts, training) to undertake Overhaul Maintenance works based on engineering disciplines in accordance to Overhaul Maintenance Plan and Work Schedule.
- Control the implementation of Overhaul Maintenance works based on engineering disciplines conducted by sub-ordinates and provides directions, advice and coaching to ensure work done according to SOP and Overhaul Maintenance Plan and Work Schedule.
- To ensure all Overhauling works are well performed to minimise future maintenance complications, which require further corrective repairs, resulting higher maintenance cost.
- Review Overhaul Maintenance reports based on engineering disciplines to ensure works done are within timeline and budget.
Qualifications, Skills, Competencies & Knowledge :
- Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline (Electrical, Electronic, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical and Mechatronic) OR
- Diploma in engineering discipline (Electrical, Electronic, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical and Mechatronic) with 3 to 5 years of working experience
- Experience in Railway and RAMS are added advantages.

- Computer literate and experience in working with Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

- Experience in Rail Maintenance activities especially in engineering and/or SCADA system, procurement, inventory preparation and logistic support.
- Experience in testing, commissioning & maintenance and/or civil equipment, Rail Operational System and machineries.
- Familiar with ISO, IEEE, IEC, & DOSH safety standard.
