Job Description:

As an Automation Engineer at Walta Engineering, you will be pivotal in advancing our technological capabilities, focusing on the integration and innovation of automation systems within our manufacturing processes. This role is not only about developing automation solutions but also involves deep engagement with our engineering teams and clients to understand and predict their needs, ensuring our solutions are both cutting-edge and highly aligned with market demands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Spearhead the adoption, design and development of state-of-the-art automation equipment tailored to improve manufacturing efficiency and quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of automation solutions with existing manufacturing systems and digital technologies.
• Conduct thorough research and development activities to identify and implement the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and automation technology.
• Take active role on overseeing the entire lifecycle of automation projects, from concept through design, testing, and implementation, ensuring they meet all specifications and standards.
• Provide internal guidance to ensure the implementation of mechanical design principles, product development, and manufacturing processes to drive innovation in automation.
• Analyse and optimise workflows and processes to identify opportunities for automation, thereby increasing productivity and reducing costs for our clients.
• Prepare detailed documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and operating manuals for manufacturing and maintenance teams.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering and automation.
• Analyse workflows and processes for automation opportunities, increasing productivity and proposing value-driven solutions to our clients before they even recognize the need.
• Program and configure PLCs and PC-based control systems to improve process efficiency.
• Contribute to the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies, including IoT and data analytics.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or a closely related field.
• Experience in the design and development of automation equipment, with a proven track record of innovative solutions in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of basic programming principles and a willingness to develop skills in high-level programming languages such as C#, Java, or Python.
• Proficient in programming PLCs (especially Siemens S7) and designing HMI interfaces (preferably WinCC).
• Familiarity with robotics systems (ABB, Kawasaki, Yaskawa) and a desire to expand expertise in this area.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with clients, understanding their processes and challenges to design tailored automation solutions.
• Experience working in remote teams and collaborating across different locations and time zones, utilizing digital collaboration tools effectively (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, Google Meet).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
