Operations Technology Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operation Technology (OT) Engineer to join SPX, Shopee's inhouse logistics team. As an OT Engineer for automation systems, you will be primarily responsible for setting up and maintaining high performing automatic sorting machines (ASM) and related facilities. Working with a team of engineers, data analysts and operations specialists, you will play a pivotal role in optimising equipment performance and ensure our logistics operations are efficient, fast, and meet our standards.

Responsibilities

• Local Network Connection Maintenance: Manage and optimise local network OT connections and configuration, including configuring switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure stable and secure data flow within the facility
• Implement Real-Time Performance Monitoring: Establish and manage real-time monitoring systems for ASM servers and network devices to continuously assess performance and quickly identify any operational issues
• Rapid Response to Network Failures: Develop and implement a rapid response protocol for critical network and ASM server failures to minimise downtime and restore functionality swiftly. Lead the effort in fault analysis by coordinating with IT to diagnose and resolve issues using detailed logs and system data to pinpoint problems
• Vendor Management for Issue Resolution: Build and maintain strong relationships with ASM vendors to expedite the resolution of system issues, ensuring vendor commitments are met and system integrity is maintained
• Regular Maintenance Schedule: Create and enforce a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all operation technology systems to ensure consistent performance and prevent unexpected failures. For example, scheduled server hot-swap test
• ASM Server Management Support: Support the ASM server configurations, including software installations, updates, and security patches to enhance server stability and security
• Access Management: Create and maintain a system to manage various OT hardwares and software application credentials and access limits
• Surveillance System Management: Oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CCTV and facial recognition surveillance systems to enhance onsite security and operational monitoring

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operation technology, particularly in industrial or manufacturing settings. Experience in the logistics sorting system would be advantageous
• Strong background in network management, including setting up and maintaining local networks, PROFIBUS, and other industrial communication protocols. Certifications in network management, CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or similar would be advantageous
• Proficiency in the use of monitoring tools and diagnostic software to ensure optimal performance and quick troubleshooting
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically to resolve complex issues
• Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively articulating technical issues and solutions to non-technical team members and senior management
• Willingness to travel to different SPX markets
