Lead Mechanical Engineer – London, UK

Brief job description:


•            following the activities related to mechanical engineering carried out by the FEED and EPSCCs contractors (mainly for the CPF-Wellpads and Pipelines packages) respecting the quality and timeline,
•            focusing on the successful and timely execution of the project,
•            demonstrating exemplary behavior with respect to HSSE rules and requirements and to ensure that HSSE requirements are duly implemented in their area of responsibility.


Key responsibilities and main tasks:

•            supervise and coordinate the mechanical engineering related activities performed by the FEED and EPSCCs Contractors (mainly for the CPF-Wellpads Package); mechanical engineering discipline includes rotating equipment, and multi-discipline packages (such as water treatment, chemical injection packages);
•            To be the focal point of contact concerning HVAC discipline with Head Quarter specialist
•            lead and manage the mechanical engineering team composed of a mechanical engineers, with focus on the successful and timely project execution;
•            provide support and expertise and contribution with regards to his discipline;
•            provide support to, challenge the FEED Contractors in the value engineering exercise. Promote alternatives design to optimize cost, work and schedule;
•            timely review and comment engineering documents and consolidate comments related to mechanical deliverables; liaise with other engineering specialist(s), and entity (Operations, HSE,…) as required;
•            ensure that the engineering activities related to mechanical and HVAC matters are performed in compliance with applicable laws and regulations (PNGS calling Australian/New Zealand standards apply), Contextualized GS, with required level of quality, high HSE standards, with respect of the Project highly sensitive environment, considering the logistic constraints and within the agreed time schedule and cost;
•            prepare the derogation requests to GS (in particular to GS EP MEC) in ep-derog system (in POLARION), follow up the instruction by Client’s Head Office experts to ensure timely answer;
•            promptly respond to engineering clarifications, request for deviations and unexpected technical issues, by a proactive and proficient approach;
•            conduct studies leading to technical decision making and issue recommendation to Project Management;
•            liaise with Head office to get expertise when required in specific mechanical subjects such as pumps, Gas Turbine, WHRU and HVAC
•            provide support in his field of expertise, to compare and evaluate the CPF-Wellpads FEED Contractors during the FEED competition phase (s);
•            assist the Procurement activities including bid evaluation and inspection;
•            assist the Commissioning and Operations in the preparation of their activities (such as procedures, MIEC…).
•            support preparation and participate in Project technical reviews, provide answers and ensure timely implementation of the findings in his discipline
•            ensure proper reporting, highlighting critical issues to the Engineering Manager and proposing remedial actions
•            To adopt & demonstrate an exemplary behavior with regard to HSSE requirements.
•            To provide a strong HSSE leadership and to define and ensure the effective implementation of the Project HSSE policy and commitment, by providing all necessary resources.
•            To adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behavior with regard to the Company Ethics and “Code of Conduct” policy and to promote and enforce the Corporate Anti-Corruption Program within the project team..
•            Organisation:  To co-ordinate all the activities of the Mechanical engineering team by informing, supporting and directing personnel in their roles, responsibilities and objectives .
•            Engineering follow-up:   To control the Contractors’ performance in mechanical and HVAC disciplines: timely delivery and review of Contractor’s engineering documents, studies and queries through an efficient technical coordination scheme with the Contractors.
•            Value Engineering: To promote and implement optimized design solutions to reduce cost and schedule..
•            Engineering compliance: To ensure compliance of mechanical and HVAC (with the support of Head Quarter specialist) engineering with the Project Requirements and applicable standards.
To Issue and follow-up Derogations requests to GS
•            To ensure timely implementation of related audit findings.
•            Reporting: To ensure adequate and timely reporting to the Engineering Manager
•            thee service holder is also accountable for demonstrating an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSSE rules & requirements and for ensuring that HSSE requirements are duly implemented within his area of responsibility


The experience shall include:

-             Professional Experience (years): > 15 years in oil & gas projects
-             Experience in similar position (years): 10 at same or equivalent position with managerial responsibilities.
-             Level / Diploma: Engineer or equivalent
-             Languages: English
