About the position

As the 3D Animator, you will play a key role in the continued growth of our Malaysian studio The Gang Asia (formerly known as Common Extract). You will create animations for characters and creatures, as well as play a key role in creating rigs, rigging systems and developing the animation pipeline for them. You will help implement animations and rigs in Unreal Engine and will play an integral part in creating the look and feel of the project.

Starting date: Now, permanent contract after 6 months probationary period

Reporting to: Managing Director, Malaysia

Location: Malaysia, working 100% remote from home, company time zone MYT. Option for hybrid/in-office work at our Selangor/Johor office. Discord and Slack are your best friends!

Work time: Full time - 40 hours a week

Responsibilities

• You are a self-driven versatile artist and a good team player

• You are able to analyze and follow established art direction, create optimized animation assets from the design stage to final implementation, and convey it to others

• You can create animation assets from scratch from initial design to final in-engine implementation in a timely manner

• You communicate and collaborate clearly and effectively within a cross-functional team

Who you are

• 3 years of professional experience

• You have a solid understanding of 3D animation and proficiency with custom keyframe animations in Maya

• Knowledge of how to rig the characters that will be animated and how to integrate that in Unreal Engine

• Experienced with root motion animations in Unreal Engine

• Good understanding of stylized character animation

• Previous experience with animation in stylized games

• Must be proficient in English, both written and spoken. Malay or Mandarin are a plus, but not required as our working language is English.
