Assistant Manager, Medical Underwriter

Underwriting (Insurance & Superannuation)

• Conduct prudent medical and financial underwriting assessment on new business, endorsement/alteration and reinstatement applications. Ensure underwriting assessment adhere to underwriting authority, business rules & regulations, underwriting manual and service level agreement (SLA) benchmark.
• Attend to internal and external enquiries or referrals. Provide solution and respond according to turn-around-time (TAT).
• Manage panel clinic, panel lab and paramedic service provider related matters. (Example : enquiry handling, conduct due diligence review, service performance evaluation, arrange for contract renewal/termination, etc).
• Participate and coordinate the system UAT activities, projects and assignments in New Business department. (Example : for new product launching, system enhancement, process improvement, data analytic, etc).
• Prepare dashboard report and any other report as required for department, management or regulatory reporting.
• Coach and train new team member. Counter-sign the case studies by junior underwriter and provide evaluation feedback to Supervisor.
• Assist and support Manager and Head of Department (HOD) to supervise new business team to work towards department targets, execute business plans and monitor daily processing to comply to SOPs, policies and regulatory requirements.
• Undertake any other assignment, duty or project as assigned by Supervisor or Manager

Job Requirement 

• At least 3 years working experience in medical underwriting of Life/Takaful insurance, Critical Illness, Accidental and Medical related product.
• With substandard medical underwriting authority of minimum +75% extra mortality.
• Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Words, Excel and PowerPoint).
• At least Degree level.
• Academic background in medical related field is preferred (e.g. Degree in Biomedical, Bioscience or Science)
