Responsible for the handling, distribution, and management of hospital linens, ensuring cleanliness, availability, and compliance with infection control standards.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Linen Handling & Distribution
Responsible to ensure the quality and quantity of the linen received from the vendor.
Collect, sort, and distribute clean and soiled linens to designated hospital departments.
Ensure proper storage of clean linens in the assigned linen room.
Maintain an adequate supply of linens for wards, operation theatres, and other hospital units.
Monitor linen requests from various departments and ensure timely delivery.
Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) to ensure older stock is used first.
2. Hygiene & Infection Control Compliance
Adhere to hospital guidelines for infection control in linen handling.
Ensure that soiled linens are segregated properly to prevent cross-contamination.
Handle infectious linens with appropriate precautions following hospital SOPs.
3. Linen Stock Management & Documentation
Monitor daily linen usage and report shortages or damages to the supervisor.
Keep accurate records of linen inventory, deliveries, and returns.
Assist in conducting periodic linen stock audits to ensure proper stock levels.
4. Coordination with Laundry & Vendors
Weight and record the amount of clean and dirty linen upon receiving or send off to the vendor
Coordinate with the laundry service provider for linen collection and delivery schedules.
Ensure that outsourced laundry services meet hospital quality and hygiene standards.
Report any issues related to linen quality or loss to the supervisor.
5. General Housekeeping & Maintenance
Keep the linen storage area clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Ensure proper disposal of damaged or unusable linens according to hospital policies.
6. Other Duties
Willingness to work in a hospital environment and follow hospital policies.
Ability to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays if .
Compliance with safety, hygiene, and infection control standards.
Assist in any additional linen-related tasks as required by the management.
Education & Experience Required:
Minimum SPM or equivalent.
Prior experience in linen handling, housekeeping, or hospital support services is an advantage.
Prior experience in linen management, laundry services, housekeeping, or hospital support services is preferred but not mandatory.
Familiarity with infection control procedures related to linen handling is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Linen Handling & Organization: Ability to sort, distribute, and manage linen efficiently.
Hygiene & Infection Control Awareness: Understanding of proper handling and segregation of clean and soiled linen.
Inventory Management: Ability to monitor stock levels, report shortages, and maintain linen records.
