Backend Developer

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Join the RBC CM BCS Technology team as we continuously deliver new products to modernize operational business processes by delivering enterprise grade solutions. We are seeking a talented and adaptable Technology Developer to develop and maintain an existing portfolio of applications and deliver new business capabilities and support various LOBs in Capital Markets.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Develop, test, and implement scalable technical solutions that will support various business functions in a shared services group. 
• Collaborate with peers to develop code in line with strategic initiatives, as well as develop, troubleshoot, enhance, and document components to meet the needs of user requirements.
• Participate and contribute to the creation and review technical design documents, understand how the design will be used in the development, and facilitate meetings to design, troubleshoot, and execute projects.
• Conduct thorough unit/integration testing, often developing and leveraging automated testing frameworks, and improve performance of functions through performance tuning.
• Estimate activities/tasks required to perform design, coding, and unit testing.
• Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions. Facilitate requirements prioritization based on business value.
• Be part of the developer’s community, participate in the continuous improvement and best practices.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

• 2+ years of practical experience with large enterprise applications full stack or relevant domain development.
• Proficiency in either Java/J2EE technologies OR .NET, Spring/Spring Boot, Micro-services, Web-Services, REST-APIs, Client-side technologies (AngularJS/React JS, jQuery, PHP)
• Proficient with SQL, working with large relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase).
• Strong knowledge of Agile development, CI/CD pipelines, version control & software packaging and experience in tools such as Jenkins, Nexus, GITHUB, Consul, JIRA, ServiceNow, Confluence, SharePoint etc.
• Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills.
• Results-oriented & deadline-driven developer with ability to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice-to-have: 

• Working experience in Python, IBM Data Stage (ETL) is a plus.
• Prefer Hands-on experience working with technologies like ETL for data pipelines, data processing, messaging systems (Kafka, MQ) and cloud native application development – AZURE.
• TLM, Gresham, Intellimatch, IntelliTrace, Xceptor or similar tool experience
• Experience in Financial Services – understanding of Capital Markets products & trade lifecycle, knowledge in any of these functional areas – Reconciliation, Reporting, SWIFT, IS20022, and Payment Investigation.
