Support the delivery of actionable market and shopper insights across combustibles and non-combustible categories for Malaysia applying a multitude of data and insights sources. Lead and oversee strategic analysis based on continuous evaluation of corporate performance and competitor intelligence, identifying and analysing business opportunities and risks to enable effective strategic, operational and tactical business decisions.Support Malaysia’s business insight journey by providing relevant insights and practices to Malaysia EM & APMEA South DRBU processes. This ensures a complete and consumer-centric perspective is included across functions and partners. .
Your key responsibilities will include:
I. Business
- Own the ongoing delivery of comprehensive, forward-looking and actionable market and customer insights across combustible and non-combustible categories for Malaysia to shape short-, mid- and long-term Marketing and corporate strategies and plans.
- Aggregate data and research outcomes into meaningful and actionable insights by bringing together and linking multiple data sources and subject areas. Help turn those insights into clear storylines and recommendations to ensure cross-functional impact and action (EM LT, Cross Functional team leads).
- Key strategic partner for all EM functions to ensure all key market drivers (5Cs: Customer, Consumer, Company, Competition, Macro Context) are understood and incorporated in strategies and plans. Ownership of the overall relationship with strategic RA agency partners (i.e. Circana, Ipsos, Nielsen), ensuring overall agency delivery is in line with consumer and market needs, guideline and BAT standards.
- Support the delivery of quarterly EM deep dives to support annual business planning cycle as well as ongoing relevant market analysis for meetings like MAP and EM DRM and support in shaping the business narrative and delivery of strategic above market reviews and communication (DRBU visits, Management Board Updates, APMEALT engagements etc.)
- Act as a consultant to the Malaysian EM community on all insights and performance related matters (Portfolio, RTM, Pricing, Illicit, Regulatory impacts, Consumer and Market dynamics etc.).
II. People
- Support the ongoing development and innovation of Business Insights in Malaysia through the dynamically changing market environment. Continuously drive the organisation towards a more consumer- and insights-centric view.
- Provide direction and focus to the Malaysian EM on market opportunities and risks and demonstrate resilience when challenging the status quo. Drive own development and support the continues development of peers via knowledge and experience sharing to stive towards a stronger marketing organisation.
- Be a role model for integrated Area working to overcome country specific thinking and acting and inspire team members and peers to act accordingly. Contribute and influence strategic direction across all leadership levels by bringing ideas, inspiration and creative thinking. Act as a role model of the new Ethos behaviour inspiring wider organization.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum of 3 years Insights /Marketing Management or relevant experience within a leading FMCG company with a proven track record of business delivery with a tertiary degree in a Marketing, Business, Management field.
- FMCG marketing skills and/or experience covering: Category, Brand, Commercial, Finance, Insights and Research, Strategy and Planning ideally in a multi category capacity.
- Ability to collaborate cross functionally & build effective working relationships at all levels. Solid business understanding and commercial competence. Data driven approach and rational thinking
- In-depth understanding of consumer and market research tools and retail audit panel data in particular.
- Ability to draw long terms industry insights from a more dynamic and data heavy operation. Ability to work with agency and third-party partners, beyond borders acknowledging and navigating cultural differences.
- Ability to provide independent, evidence-based and well-thought-through opinions as an input to management decision making. Excellent communication and storytelling skills: ability to deliver effective presentations to collaborators at all levels. Capability in providing the right level of detail, depending on the needs of the audience.
