Business Studies and Economics Teacher

Job Summary:

The Economics and Business Studies Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality educational experiences in the fields of Economics and Business Studies. This role involves instructing and inspiring students, fostering critical thinking, and preparing them for academic success and practical application in the world of economics and business. The Teacher will contribute to curriculum development, engage in professional development, and support the overall educational mission of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Delivery:

• Develop and implement effective lesson plans and teaching strategies in alignment with Cambridge IGCSE curriculum standards.
• Deliver engaging and informative lessons in Economics and Business Studies, catering to diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Use a variety of instructional techniques and resources to enhance student learning.

2. Student Assessment:

• Assess and evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments.
• Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance and areas for improvement.

3. Classroom Management:

• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Manage classroom behaviour, and discipline effectively, fostering respect and responsibility among students.

4. Professional Development:

• Stay updated with the latest developments in IGCSE Economics and Business Studies syllabus.
• Participate in professional development opportunities provided by the school and by Cambridge Assessment International Education to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

5. Curriculum Enhancement:

• Contribute to curriculum development and improvement, ensuring relevance and alignment with educational standards.
• Develop supplementary materials, such as worksheets, assignments, and assessments.

6. Parent and Stakeholder Communication:

• Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and academic matters.

7. Collaboration:

• Collaborate with colleagues, including other teachers and department heads, to enhance the overall educational experience.
• Participate in department meetings and school-wide initiatives.
• Organise school events collaboratively.

8. Extracurricular Involvement:

• Encourage and support students' involvement in extracurricular activities related to Economics and Business Studies, such as clubs or competitions.
• Involved in heading at least one club in school.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Studies, or Master's degree in any related field.
• Teaching certification from any accredited educational authorities.
• Strong subject matter expertise in Economics and Business Studies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Classroom management skills.
• Passion for teaching and fostering student growth.

Experience:

• Previous teaching experience (from international schools) in Economics and Business Studies preferred.
• Experience with diverse student learning need is a plus.

Job Requirements :

• Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years teaching experience in International Schools or education setting with knowledge of the Cambridge British Syllabus.
• Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree/Professional Degree/Master's Degree in Education / Teaching / Training OR related field.
• Able to execute Business Studies and Economics Lessons and ensure students are prepared and ready for their examinations.
• Able to teach any other subjects is an added advantage
• Excellent proficiency in English both spoken and written. Other languages as an additional plus point.
• Passionate about education, patient, willing to learn, adaptable & loves learning/teaching students.
• Highly responsible, dedicated, hardworking and a team-player.
• IT Savvy & proficient with Google Classroom
• Applicants must be willing to work in Petaling Jaya.
