CAD/CAM Engineer

Position: CAD/CAM Engineer

Department: Engineering (Tooling/Grinding)

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Job Purpose:

The CAD/CAM Engineer will be a critical member of the engineering team, responsible for the precise design, development, and programming of CNC machining processes. This role requires expertise in generating and optimizing CNC programs for multi-axis milling machines, ensuring efficient and high-quality fabrication, and providing technical support to the tooling department.

Key Responsibilities:

• CNC Program Development: Design, develop, edit, and generate precise CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
  

• CAM File Management: Perform meticulous scheduling and preparation of all CAM files essential for the CNC machining process.
  

• Fabrication Oversight: Oversee the fabrication process, operating CNC milling machines to ensure smooth productivity and adherence to specifications.
  

• Quality Verification: Conduct thorough verification of work piece dimensions using designated measurement equipment, ensuring strict compliance with mechanical drawings.
  

• Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and implement continuous improvements on CNC programs to optimize lead time, enhance accuracy, and improve overall quality of the CNC process.
  

• Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide direct support to the tooling department, troubleshooting issues that arise during the manufacturing process and refining CNC programs as needed to resolve challenges.
  

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Minimum Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
  

• Experience:
  

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in CAD/CAM programming.
    

  • Proficiency in using industry-standard CAM software such as MasterCAM, SolidworkCAM, or SolidCAM.
    

  • Proven ability to resolve technical issues related to the CNC machining process.
    

  • Experience in operating CNC milling and CNC EDM machines is a significant advantage.
    

• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO systems is required.
  

• Skills: Technically competent with strong analytical skills, results-oriented, proactive, resourceful, and capable of working with a high degree of independence and perseverance.
