The Chief Mechanic is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment in the company, and for managing the mechanics team. Service quality, job preparation, planning and safety are key priorities in this role. The position reports to the Plantation Manager / Machinery Manager / Group of Director.

Responsibilities

Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.
Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
Keep logs of work and report on issues.
Writes analytical reports.
Develop a work schedule for mechanics and assistant mechanics.
Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users.
Supports the development of employees and acts as a mentor.

Requirements

Minimum ten (10) years’ field experience with similar equipment onshore or offshore, preferably on oil palm plantation.
Proven experience as chief mechanic.
Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components.
A strong commitment to all safety and health guidelines.
Industrial mechanics certificate or equivalent.
Very good communication skills.
