Commercial Finance Manager - Growth-Minded Organization

Job Summary

Responsible to lead all commercial finance discussion (ROI, Brand/Channel/Customer Analysis & Profitability), financial planning and analysis of the operations, working closely with the different cross-functional teams to drive internal operational planning, trade spend & marketing activity planning, profit improvement, cost optimization and pricing decisions. You will manage financial business processes, investment analysis, budgeting/forecasting as well as operations and costing analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Partnering Role

• Support Sales & Marketing and Supply Chain Team in term of Financial Analysis e.g. ROI, Customer Contribution and Budget analysis. Assist to build Annual plans and operationalize the plans; matching investments to sustainable growth.
• Support Sales Organization with analysis for negotiations, developing joint business plan and contractual trade terms.
• Monitoring and control Sales Budgets. Both the investment budgets as well as the indirect budgets.
• Support financial performance and continuous improvements in the E-commerce, Modern & Distributor Trade; control stock levels, distribution cost, etc. Signal weaknesses in operational areas.
• Provide Channel/Brand/Customer P&L Analysis, Sales Growth Analysis, Price Analysis, Trade Spending Analysis, Advertising & Promotion Analysis, Margin Analysis, Non-Variable Overhead Analysis
• Provide key financial information/business analysis and support them on financial calculations relating to New Product launches, Pricing or Promotion, Business Case (Hypothetical P&Ls) and Strategic Plans preparations.
• Provide pre and post evaluation of sales & marketing campaigns.
• Conduct Feasibility Study of New Product and recommendation for margin improvement.
• Identification and driving efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities and implementation with involvement of all stakeholders
• Explore opportunities to use budget & planning effective procedures and simplify process.

Budget Control & Analysis

• Understand Sales & Marketing and Supply Chain budgets and their activities.
• Review and update with budget owner for the variance analysis & recommendation for improvement.
• Prepare monthly rolling forward forecasts and annual budget for decision making & execution.
• Budgetary monitoring and control on trade spend, advertising & promotion and indirect costs.

Reporting

• Liaise with Malaysia's finance team for monthly reporting.
• Support outsources accounting team with necessary data for monthly closing.
• Working with auditors and developing good working relationships with professionals such as bankers, auditors or statutory organizations.
• Working capital management including closely monitoring Accounts Receivable and Inventory Valuation.
• Conduct first-level variance analyses of P&L, balance sheet and cashflow that transforms into financial information and business insights as well as provide recommendations that aid in the business decision-making process.
• Perform financial analysis to facilitate identification of right opportunities and valuations; project assessment, due diligence or execution involvement as required.

Other responsibilities

• Actively participate in the company's digital transformation journey to drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial planning and reporting.
• Drive master data management and data validation activities core to planning, analysis, budgeting forecasting and management reporting.
• Develop and implement financial models and tools to support accurate and efficient financial analysis and reporting.
• Build financial reports, conduct financial analysis, and create business metrics in support of the company's operations.
• Work closely with Malaysia finance team to maintain and improve compliance as per group policy for all financial reporting, tax, statutory audit and governance related topics.

Job Skills and Qualifications:

• Holds a degree in Accountancy / Finance or professional accounting qualifications (ACCA / CPA)
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in Commercial Finance, FP & A, Budget Planning, Planning Analysis, Financial Analysis related field.
• Possessed experience in Budget Planning, P&L and Balance Sheet is preferable.
• Proven experience as a business partner to the commercial functions (Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain), with overall good business understanding and perspective.
• Capable of delivering high quality and accurate work while respecting short lead times due to strong planning and priority setting.
• Proven strategic and analytical thinking capability coupled with good business acumen skills and judgement.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
