Costing Engineer

Job Description

• Cost Estimation: Utilize expertise in High Tension electrical systems to develop accurate cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses.
• Project Analysis: Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to identify requirements and determine cost factors.
• Vendor and Supplier Management: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and equipment required for High Tension projects.
• Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality or safety standards.
• Budgeting Support: Assist in the development of project budgets by providing detailed cost estimates and analysis.
• Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential cost overruns or deviations from the budget and propose mitigation strategies.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, budgets, and related documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on cost estimates and project objectives.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in High Tension electrical systems to continually improve cost estimation processes.
• Assist Tender & Contract Manager to select tender equipment & materials specification
• Calculate BQ, electrical load, Lux
• Attend tender interview & meeting
• Site visitation if necessary
• Tender document & catalog preparation
• Get quotation from suppliers & sub-contractors
• Compilation and finalizing of tender

Competency Requirements

• Strong understanding of High Tension electrical systems, including transmission lines, substations, and associated equipment.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Professional certification in cost estimation or related field is desirable.
