Job Purpose

The Credit Analyst is responsible for conducting independent credit assessments and ongoing monitoring of bond and sukuk issuers within the Bank's Treasury fixed income portfolio. The role supports informed investment decision-making through comprehensive analysis of issuer creditworthiness, financial performance, industry dynamics, ESG considerations, and market developments, while ensuring compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and governance standards.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive credit assessments of domestic and foreign currency bond and sukuk issuers, including analysis of business, financial, industry, country, and ESG risks.
  • Perform due diligence and Know-Your-Customer (KYC) reviews in accordance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and the Bank's credit governance framework.
  • Prepare detailed credit assessment reports, including risk identification, mitigants, recommendations, and credit opinions for approval by relevant committees.
  • Monitor and review the credit quality of issuers within the Treasury fixed income portfolio and proactively identify emerging credit concerns.
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance through analysis of financial statements, covenant compliance, rating actions, market developments, and relevant news flow.
  • Assess ESG risks and incorporate ESG considerations into the overall credit evaluation process.
  • Stay informed on macroeconomic trends, industry developments, financial markets, and fixed income market conditions to support sound credit decisions.
  • Engage with issuers, arrangers, trustees, facility agents, rating agencies, and other market participants to support due diligence and portfolio monitoring activities.
  • Perform impairment assessments and recommend appropriate actions for deteriorating credits or watchlist exposures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, risk appetite parameters, regulatory requirements, and governance standards.
  • Prepare portfolio reviews, management reports, credit updates, and presentations for senior management and relevant committees.
  • Participate in issuer meetings, investor briefings, conference calls, and site visits, and prepare meeting notes and credit call reports.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
  • Support ad-hoc projects, initiatives, and assignments as required.
     

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred: Professional qualifications such as ACCA (or its equivalent), Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (Certified Credit Professional, Professional Credit Certification, Business Credit Professional, Competency Validation Assessment) or OMEGA
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, corporate banking, investment management, treasury, fixed income investments, or credit rating agencies.
  • Experience in analysing bond and sukuk issuers and fixed income instruments is preferred.
  • Sound understanding of corporate credit analysis, financial statement analysis, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Knowledge of fixed income markets, bond and sukuk structures, credit documentation, and covenant analysis.
  • Familiarity with ESG risk assessment frameworks and sustainability-related considerations.
  • Good business-writing and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex credit issues clearly.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
