Qualifications & experience

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Proven experience in debt collection, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of debt collection laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Debt Collection Officer, providing guidance, training, and support to maximize performance and productivity. This includes conducting regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and setting clear objectives for team members.
• Develop and implement effective debt collection strategies & procedures to optimize recovery rates & minimize losses. This involves collaborating with team members to identify best practices, implementing new techniques, & adjusting strategies as needed based on performance metrics & industry trends.
• Monitor team performance and individual collector metrics, providing regular feedback and coaching to drive continuous improvement. This includes analyzing performance data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing training programs or performance improvement plans as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations & company policies governing debt collection practices.This involves staying up-to-date on regulatory changes, providing training to team member on compliance requirements & conducting regular audits to ensure adherence to policies & procedures
• Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, such as legal counsel and collection agencies, to support debt recovery efforts. This includes negotiating contracts, and collaborating with external partners to resolve complex debt collection issues.
• Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the debt collection function.
• This involves reviewing key performance indicators, identifying trends or patterns in the data, and making recommendations for process enhancements or system improvements to streamline operations.
• Handle escalated customer inquiries and complaints, working to resolve issues promptly and professionally.
• This includes providing guidance to team members on handling difficult situations, conducting root cause analysis to identify underlying issues, and implementing corrective actions to prevent future escalations.
• Prepare regular reports and presentations on team performance, collection actvities, and key metrics for senior management. This involves compiling data from various sources, analyzing trends, and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner to support decision-making and strategic planning.
