Design Engineer

Job Summary:

Solmax, a leading manufacturer of geosynthetics products, is seeking a skilled and motivated Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will provide technical support for Solmax's range of geosynthetics products, focusing on applications such as reinforced slopes and walls, basal and piled embankments, subgrade stabilization, and marine structures. This role requires a proactive and collaborative approach to influence the use of our products, support internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to product development and marketing initiatives. The candidate should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide technical support for Solmax’s complete range of geosynthetics products, with focus on applications include reinforced slope and wall, basal and piled embankments, subgrade stabilization, and marine structures related works.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, consultants and contractors, provide technical assistance includes technical design and specification works to influence the use of Solmax's products. This includes responding to internal and external requests in a written and/or verbal form in a professional manner. 
• Conduct engaging and informative presentations for both internal teams and external stakeholders to promote Solmax’s products.
• Travel locally and internationally to spearhead technical and marketing initiatives in the region, encompassing presentations, meetings, training sessions, seminars, conferences, etc.
• Visit project sites, both domestic and international, to provide on-site support for product installations, monitoring, and attend site meetings, if any.
• Develop detailed technical documentation, including technical papers, technical notes, and case studies/project references, as required.
• Contribute to the product development process by conducting literature reviews, engaging in research and development activities, and providing valuable insights.
• Generate compelling marketing materials such as blogs, brochures, and installation guidelines to promote Solmax’s products effectively.
• Assist in product management and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Foster and strengthen relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. 
• To perform other technical related duties as assigned.

Skills

• Exceptional presentation and communication skills (primarily in English), with the ability to effectively engage with industry professionals, government officials, key customers, and professional institutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills, coupled with the capability to deliver customer-oriented solutions.
• AutoCAD and engineering design software skills (such as Slope/W) will be an added advantage.

Knowledge

• In depth knowledge of the Geosynthetics business environment
• In depth technical knowledge on Solmax’s products in providing technical support specific to project requirements 
• Sales forecasting, costing and budgeting knowledge

Experience

• Fresh graduate / Minimum 2 years of working experience as consultant

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Geotechnical Engineering.
