Electrical Engineer (based in Penang) - Growth-Minded Organization

Job Summary

Electrical Engineer to work as a development engineer for our proprietary line of automation solutions and mobile robots. This role shall prepare the necessary detailed electrical layout and schematic drawings, ensure drawings are up to date and in accordance to the project requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities 

• Prepare detailed electrical layout and schematic drawings for the system and its sub-assemblies.
• Assist in assembly and wiring of electrical/electronic parts of the prototype robots.
• Prepare complete Bill of Materials for the electrical system of the mobile robots.
• Work with Production Engineers and vendors during system assembly, wiring and testing.
• Train electrical technician in good wiring practices.
• Support system testing and qualification.
• Contribute to product cost reduction efforts.
• Ensure electrical drawings are up to date.
• Project planning and management.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

Health, Safety & Environment Responsibilities 

• Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment compliance.
• Hold team members accountable for health, safety and environmental compliance as part of the annual performance review process.
• Ensure that the requirements of the health, safety and environment management system are implemented and maintained.
• Carry out hazard assessments, inspections, and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate requirements.
• Ensure that training is provided to all departmental employees are per established training matrix.
• Implement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
• Ensure that appropriate equipment, materials and protective devices are provided and maintained in safe condition.
• Provide information, instruction and supervision to employees.
• Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees.

People Requirement

• Degree / Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum three years’ experience (five years for diploma holders) in assembly and wiring of electrical systems, preferably in automation or robotics.
• Experience in documenting electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Experience with electrical schematic design (E3 / AUTOCAD).
• Experience in design with standard compliance like UL/CE/IEC.
• Hands on experience in assembling electrical systems, control panels, motor and driver assemblies.
• Working experience with typical machine control hardware like power supplies, motors, sensors, motion and I/O devices.
• Proven troubleshooting skills for electrical systems.
• Good problem-solving skills backed by conceptual and analytical thinking and systematic approach.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Travel to customer sites as and when needed.
• Willing to work in George Town Penang.
