Our client is a reputable manufacturer of precision components and modules in high-mix low-volume. They are an established supplier for many major global players in the Optical, Semicon, Diagnostics, Medical, and Life Science industries. They are looking for a Business Operations Assistant Manager to join the team.
The Engineering Assistant Manager will manage precision engineering activities of the Costing, New Product Introduction (NPI), and CAM Programming teams. This role involves leading a team of 12 engineers, making sure every employee is motivated and well trained.
You will be actively involved with SMART factory operation and generate smartest solutions to produce parts with good cost and the best quality.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Team Leadership & Management
Lead, mentor, and manage the Costing, NPI, and CAM Programming teams. Foster a happy and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork and employee development.
Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of high precision machining projects. Ensure on time completion and within budget.
B. Product Cost Estimation
Supervise the Costing team to ensure accurate and timely cost estimations for new products based on the most optimal production methods.
Review and approve cost estimates and implement cost saving opportunities. Work with Sales and Finance team to optimize the markup structure, and Procurement to optimise sourcing and cost efficiency.
C. New Product Introduction (NPI)
Lead NPI team in planning for new customer products internally. Collaborate with sales, production & quality department to ensure successful product deliveries.
Problem solving of issues during production. Find the root cause and implement preventive actions.
D. CAM Programming
Oversee the CAM Programming team to ensure efficient and accurate programming of all CNC machines (3,4,5 axis Milling, Lathe, Mill Turn, Wire-EDM).
Ensure programs use the smartest machining strategy. Constantly challenge the team to improve and use new advanced machining technologies.
E. Technical Expertise & Process Improvement
Manage a small team of engineers and machining experts to improve current production and introduce new technologies to SMART Factory.
Focus on continuous improvement of all production processes. Work closely together with production and quality department.
Requirements:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 7 years of relevant technical experience in precision machining, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Hands-on experience with CAD/CAM software and CNC machining.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong communication and leadership skills for cross-functional collaboration.
