Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and execute a variety of cuisines including Western, Chinese, and Malay for events according to client preferences and dietary requirements.
- Coordinate with event planners to understand the scope, theme, and specific requirements of each event.
- Prepare menus and estimate food quantities required for events, ensuring efficient utilization of ingredients and minimizing wastage.
- Manage and maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
- Oversee food presentation to ensure it meets high standards of quality and aesthetics.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff
- Collaborate with the procurement team to source fresh and high-quality ingredients within budget constraints.
- Assist in the development of new recipes and menu ideas to enhance the culinary offerings of the events.
- Flexibility to transition to handling responsibilities in the mousse department during non-event periods.
- Maintain inventory levels of kitchen supplies and equipment, and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a cook or chef, preferably in a catering or event management environment.
- Proficiency in cooking a diverse range of cuisines, including Western, Chinese, and Malay.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, event planners, and kitchen staff.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and requirements of different events.
- Certification from a culinary school or relevant training programs is a plus.
Note: The primary focus of this role will be on cooking for events, with the flexibility to assist in the mousse department during non-event periods.
