## The group you\u2019ll be a part of\n\n \n\nThe Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.\n\n \n\n## The impact you\u2019ll make\n\nAs a Field Service Engineer at Lam, you will step into the limelight of customer support. This position will be based in Penang supporting our global customer. You\u0027re on the front lines, understanding customer needs and collaborating with various teams to deliver solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for providing quality repair and carrying out preventive maintenance service of Lam etch / clean / deposition equipment at customer sites. Other activities include installation, relocation of customer equipment, performing associated start-up, and troubleshooting activities.\n\n## What you\u2019ll do\n\n * Install and/or relocate equipment at customers\u2019 sites. Conduct associated start-up, cut over and check-out activities on the newly installed systems\n * Provide warranty tool support or paid service for out-of-warranty tool by performing on-site preventive maintenance of equipment and attending to equipment abnormalities. Coordinate all service actions with customer to minimize downtime or system interruptions\n * Apply troubleshooting techniques to eliminate equipment malfunctions. Conduct diagnostic procedures to isolate problem. Assess severity of malfunctions and determine corrective actions required or escalate for assistance and prompt resolution. When necessary, replace defective units, components, or parts where appropriate\n * Implement field modifications or updates as released in Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) which may involve removal and installation of assemblies, sub-assemblies, systems, and subsystems\n * Carry out Tier 2 process qualification work\n * Prepare and maintain accurate logs, service records, part usage documentation, diagnostic updates, and other management reports\n * Professionally represent the company to the customer. Utilize knowledge of company\u2019s product lines and services to keep existing / potential customers informed when new/additional needs are identified\n * Develop good customer relations during installation and execution of service contracts\n * Maintain company\u2019s assigned equipment (computer, tool kit, diagnostic test equipment, spare parts, etc.) in good working condition, and ensure it is secure and accounted for\n * Take on ad-hoc duties as and when assigned by the Immediate Supervisor\n\n\n\n## Who we\u2019re looking for\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.\n * This is a graduate eligible role.\n * Self-starter who can work independently and has a deep desire to learn and grow with the Company\n * Strong interpersonal and communication skills\n * Able to actively engage customers on technical solutions\n * Willing to support short term, overseas assignment\n * Able to work swing shift (Tues \u2013 Sat and/or Sun \u2013 Thur)\n * Proficiency in interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and operation manuals.\n * Able to work in a clean room environment while wearing personal protective safety equipment, or cleanroom suit.\n * Frequently position oneself (e.g., bend, stoop, reach, walk, sit, twist, squat, kneel, climb, stand) to perform job tasks for extended periods.\n * Able to travel frequently (90% travelling to regions like Japan / Korea / Taiwan / US), domestically and internationally, based on customer needs, flexibility to work a variety shifts including compressed and alternative workweeks including overtime and on-call if needed.\n * Able to perform rostered 24/7 on call standby duty for a week\n\n\n\n## Preferred qualifications\n\n * Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with common office software including Microsoft Office Suite.\n * Experience in installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of semiconductor capital equipment is a plus.\n * Communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.\n * Foundational analytical and problem-solving skills.\n\n\n\n## Our commitment\n\n \n\nWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
