Finance Officer

Job Description

Job Purpose: The Finance Officer will be responsible to coordinate the school’s finance department responsibilities such as month end closing, bank reconciliation, payment processing, etc.

Reporting To: Head Of Finance

• Parent

• Students

• Vendors

• Regional Finance team

 

Month/Year end close

· Ensure that the accounts are close on timely basis

· Ensure all the month end/quarter end reports are prepare accurately and on timely basis

· Assist to conduct cash count at month end/as and when required

· Ensure that bank reconciliation is performed on monthly basis and payments/receipts are cleared.

· Ensure appropriate record keeping takes place.

· Ensure effective communication within the finance team on deadlines etc

· Regular review of policies and procedures.

· Assist to liaise with auditors and prepare audited financial statements

· Assist to prepare tax provision, liaise with tax agent and ensure completeness of tax computation

· Feedback from Regional Team

 

Fixed Assets

· To update Property, Plant & Equipment Register (Fixed Asset Register) and key in journal for hire purchase monthly payment, loan interest and monthly depreciation value.

· Ensure all the relevant information for new assets being updated within the month itself.

· Conduct periodic audits to verify the accuracy of the fixed asset register. Assets that have been lost, stolen or have become nonfunctional no longer have value to the organization and, therefore, the remaining book value of such assets must be written off.

· Prepare month end report on Capex.

· Timely resolutions of issues

· Timely reply to emails

Budget/Forecast

· Assist in the preparation of budget/forecast

· Ensure documents are uploaded correctly onto the system

· Assist to prepare reports for budget/forecast

· Update budget in financial system and monitor on sufficiency of budgets

· Attend to budget queries as and when required.

· Timely resolutions of issues

· Timely reply to emails

Contact (Finance System) update

· Liaise and follow up with HR on new staff joining

· Update the contacts in finance system based on info provided by HR and IT.

· Timely resolutions of issues

· Take a proactive approach to personal development planning using company toolkits and procedures as appropriate.

· Take ownership for personal development and works with DAM to develop and implement a focused and straightforward Personal Development Plan.

· Take ownership for requesting feedback from others in a timely fashion.

· Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned or other duties as deemed necessary by Supervisor

Personal Specifications – Skills Knowledge And Experience

Qualifications

· Minimum Bachelor's Degree/Professional Degree / ACCA or its equivalent

· Experience/Knowledge/Skills

· Minimum 2 years working experience in audit or Finance handling month end closing, reporting etc

· IT literate and able to use MS Office 365 applications proficiently

· Knowledge in ERP system will be an added advantage

· Excellent proficiency in communicating in the English language

· Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks
