GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
The Head of Rehabilitation Services is responsible for leading, managing, and developing the Rehabilitation services within the hospital. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred rehabilitation care across various services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, and other therapeutic disciplines.
JOB DESCRIPTION :
1. Lead, organise, direct, control, and evaluate day-to-day rehabilitation operations, both clinically and administratively.
2. Ensure effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all rehabilitation functions and service delivery.
3. Develop and enforce strategic objectives, annual plans, and service development initiatives aligned with KPJ corporate goals.
4. Plan, monitor, and manage the services budget, ensuring revenue generation, cost control, and overall financial performance.
5. Review and analyse service utilisation, productivity, billing practices, and statistical reports for continuous service improvement.
6. Identify and develop new services, packages, business opportunities, and marketing strategies to support service growth.
7. Ensure full compliance with KPJ standards, MSQH/JCI accreditation requirements, MOH regulations, and legal obligations.
8. Develop, document, implement, and review policies, procedures, and quality assurance systems for rehabilitation services.
9. Ensure clinical quality, safety, service outcomes, and adherence to ethical standards in all aspects of physiotherapy practice.
10. Lead, supervise, and support staff, ensuring a harmonious working environment, clear job descriptions, and effective communication.
11. Plan, conduct, and evaluate staff orientation, in-service training, competency assessments, and annual performance appraisals.
12. Manage staffing matters including recruitment, transfer, promotion, training, and disciplinary actions in consultation with HR.
13. Oversee and participate in clinical duties, ensuring high-quality rehabilitation services and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
14. Manage equipment and facilities, including planning, procurement, maintenance, cleanliness, and ensuring all equipment is functioning safely.
15. Represent the services by organising and coordinating inter-services communication, supporting marketing activities, pursuing professional development, and performing duties assigned by the CEO or hospital management.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by immediate superior or hospital management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education
Minimum Requirement :
Diploma or Degree in the relevant professional field (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech & Language Therapy).
Preferred Qualifications and Experience :
Degree in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech & Language Therapy
Master Degree Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech & Language Therapy or MBA
Licensure
Possession of a valid Practicing Certificate issued by the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC) or equivalent national regulatory body.
Experience
Minimum Requirement : Minimum 10 years of post-registration clinical experience in a hospital setting
Preferred Qualifications and Experience :10 years or more of experience in an acute or sub-acute hospital setting or related field.

Advanced communication and presentation skills. Able to convey complex clinical information clearly to consultants, multidisciplinary teams, patients, and caregivers.
Capable of managing challenging situations, resolving disputes, and leading teams effectively within multidisciplinary settings.
Good in critical thinking, clinical problem-solving and decision-making. Demonstrates strong analytical ability to assess clinical issues and develop safe, evidence-based solutions.
A leader who is able to coach, mentor and build and empower all junior staff. Skilled in guiding junior staff, facilitating clinical learning, and motivating team members toward high-performance practice. Coordinates all physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and others to work closely as a collaborative team.
Engages patients and staff with empathy, respect, and understanding of diverse cultural and emotional needs.
