1) GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Care Assistant supports the clinical team in providing quality patient care by assisting optometrists during eye examinations, preparing patients, maintaining cleanliness, and managing basic clinical and administrative tasks. This role ensures smooth daily operations and a positive patient experience.
2) JOB DESCRIPTION
Professional Diligence
Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all assigned duties.
Comply with clinic policies, procedures, SOPs, and operational guidelines at all times.
Utilize clinic resources effectively and responsibly to support smooth daily operations.
Participate in centre events, activities, and any other duties as assigned by Management.
Clinical Duties
Provide basic support in delivering eye care services, including offering general advice and reassurance on vision-related matters within scope of practice.
Support clinic operations to ensure smooth patient flow between registration, consultation, and treatment areas.
Customer/Patient Care
Register patients accurately and perform timely patient follow-up.
Handle patient appointments, scheduling, and rescheduling efficiently.
Answer incoming telephone calls promptly (within three rings) in a professional and courteous manner.
Manage counter services and ensure an organized and efficient clinic flow.
Provide courteous, clear, and empathetic communication to patients and caregivers at all times.
Management Accountability
Handle Managed Care Organization (MCO) and Insurance Company Guarantee Letters (GL), including complete and accurate documentation for tracking and reporting purposes.
Ensure all charges are billed accurately and collections are correctly processed.
Manage daily cash handling, including closing of till, reconciliation of receipts, and ensuring all transactions are supported by proper documentation.
Collect deposits from patients prior to surgical procedures in accordance with clinic policy.
Practice effective stock control, including minimum stock holding and proper usage of clinic supplies.
Human Resource & Development
Submit leave application in advance according to the number of days as stated in the employee handbook, to the Head of Branch or Head of Service HOS for approval.
Participates in teaching program and contributes to the orientation of new staff, Junior nurses and student nurses.
Takes personal responsibility for own professional development and keeps up to date with professional change and growth by maintaining mandatory learning hours.
Adheres to ethical standards and displaying honesty and reliability in their work.
Demonstrates respect to senior staff in the organization.
Always adhere to Standard People Practice (SPP) and guide the staff, especially lower categories and non-clinical.
Safety & Quality Improvement Activities
Adhere, support and comply in the activities that contribute towards continuous improvement of nursing service e.g., Patient Safety Goals, Patient and Family’s Rights, Quality Assurance, Infection Control, Fire and Safety Program, and Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations 1994.
Comply with the practice of administering medication according to 7Rights in in accordance with Policies and Procedures.
Never leave the operating room, unless there is another un scrubbed person in OT.
Disposes sharps and used items safely into the appropriate container according to policy to avoid sharp injury.
Check and document of emergency trolley and medical gas (e.g. portable oxygen supply) according to Policy and Procedure.
Check and document Controlled Drugs (DDA drugs) twice daily (in-going and out-going) according to Policy and Procedure.
Conduct investigation and root cause analysis in any incident in the services, take appropriate action and ensure completion of incident reports within the stipulated time frame.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Undertake any additional work matters as instructed by superior.
Participation in Centre’s Event/ Other activities / all other assignment as instructed by the Management.
Support marketing event such as Roadshow.
3) JOB REQUIREMENT
SPM or Diploma holder with at least 2 years of experience in patient handling.
Posses good communication skills in Bahasa and English.
Can work under pressure and in teamwork.
