This role is based in Tawau, Sabah. Candidates must be aware that relocation to Tawau is a requirement when applying for this position.

Responsibilities: 

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of hotel facilities, ensuring a conducive environment for guests and staff.
  • Liaise with maintenance and housekeeping teams to address maintenance issues promptly.
  • Implement sustainable practices to optimize resource utilization and minimize environmental impact.
  • Optimize workflow efficiencies by refining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workflows.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and regulatory bodies.

Human Resources:

  • Attend to HR issues such as staff recruitment, complaints, orientation, training, retention, welfare, counselling, coaching, motivation, and performance appraisal.
  • Develop personal growth opportunities for staff.
  • Develop and implement guest-centric training programs to enhance staff competencies.

Sales and Marketing:

  • Develop and present comprehensive annual business and marketing plans, aligning with organizational objectives.
  • Conduct regular competitor analyses to identify market trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Implement strategies to achieve sales and marketing targets outlined in the plans.
  • Prepare detailed reports and manuals, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Lead, mentor, and empower the sales team to cultivate and nurture client relationships.
  • Forge strategic partnerships with other hotels and local industry associations.
  • Proactively seek out new corporate accounts and oversee promotional campaigns and events.
  • Drive revenue generation efforts through effective pricing strategies and sales initiatives.

Guest Service:

  • Uphold a culture of exemplary guest service, striving to exceed guest expectations at every touchpoint.
  • Responsively address guest feedback and complaints, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Establish and enforce guest service standards, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility and profitability.
  • Analyze financial performance metrics, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or its equivalent
  • Min. 5-7 years of progressive experience in hotel management or a similar hospitality role, with min. 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Proven experience in overseeing hotel operations, including maintenance, housekeeping, sales, and marketing.
  • Experience in developing, managing budgets and financial analysis
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with staff, guests, and external partners.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly under pressure.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Proactive and results-driven mindset.
