Infrastructure Engineer

Job Family: Infrastructure and Operations

As the Infrastructure Engineer (Level 2) you will provide day to day Level 2 operations support for JM’s Platforms infrastructure. This includes virtualization, operating system administration, cloud computing and backup and restore. You will be working closely with engineers from other domains (infrastructure and applications) to ensure services availability.

Your goal / purpose will be to provide implementation and technical support; including planning, installation, ongoing management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and decommissioning, following operational policies and processes that are compliant with JM IT’s standards.

Your responsibilities:

• To support infrastructure remotely and work with cross-cultural team
• To work with JM employees and other external organisations to complete projects
• To perform Microsoft monthly patching activities for all servers
• To take part in the Major Incident Management process, which may mean out of hours participation in incident resolution and service restoration.
• To support L3 teams in updating documentations and keep it up to date in line with JM standards and policies.
• To analyse, troubleshooting and implementing approved and standardized resolutions. 
• To carry out any other duties within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed 

Requirements for the role:

• Holder of a recognised IT qualification
• Operational experience in virtualization e.g. VMWare, Windows Server OS, Cloud Computing e.g Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS). Additional knowledge in Linux (RHEL & SUSE) would be added advantage.
• Operational experience in Veeam, PowerShell preferably in a Level 2 role providing day to day operational support.
• Good experience in performing Microsoft monthly patching activity.
• Awareness of ITIL principles
• Working knowledge of planning, installation, on-going management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of IT services and technologies.
• Able to work shift (24x5) and based in the office and standby occasionally on weekends
