INSPECTOR OF WORKS - INTERIOR DESIGN

Job Description

An Inspector of Work (IOW) is responsible for ensuring that construction projects comply with specifications, codes, and standards. The role involves monitoring and inspecting work on-site to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to project plans.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Inspection: Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with project specifications and relevant regulations.
2. Quality Control: Ensure the quality of materials and workmanship meets the required standards.
3. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and other relevant activities.
4. Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed reports on site conditions, progress, and any issues identified.
5. Coordination: Work closely with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure smooth project execution.
6. Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental standards.
7. Testing: Oversee and coordinate on-site testing of materials and systems to ensure compliance with specifications.
8. Problem-Solving: Identify and address any defects or discrepancies in construction work.

Requirements

1. Education: A Diploma or Degree in interior Design / Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. Experience: Prior experience in construction site inspection or a related role. Typically, at least 3-7 years of experience is required.
3. Certification: Relevant certifications such as Certified Construction Inspector (CCI) or equivalent are often preferred.
4. Knowledge: Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations. Familiarity with relevant software and tools.
5. Skills:
   • Strong attention to detail.
   • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
   • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
   • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
   • Proficiency in using inspection and testing equipment.
6. Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various site conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and adverse weather.

Additional Skills:

• Project Management: Understanding of project management principles can be beneficial.
• Technical Writing: Ability to write detailed and accurate reports.
