Inspector of Works - Urgent Role

Positions available:
- One (1) Inspector of Works (Electrical)
- One (1) Inspector of Works (Mechanical)

Requirements:
(a) Must posses a diploma in electrical engineering for Inspector of Works (Electrical) and diploma in mechanical engineering for Inspector of Works (Mechanical)
(b) Must be registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia as Certified or Intern Inspector of Works 
(c) Willing to be based in Labuan project site
(d)  At least five (5) years working experience in construction works

Scope of works:
(a) Shall be available at the project site to inspect and where possible independently settle issues without delays.
(b) Shall be assisting the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS / PRINCIPALS (M&E) / RESIDENT ARCHITECTS / PROJECT MANAGER in coordinating all other services at the construction site.
(c) Shall check and direct the contractors in accordance to the specification, details and standard building M&E practices and refer design problems to the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS / RESIDENT ARCHITECTS / PROJECT MANAGER.
(d) Shall check the workmanship and materials for conformity with the drawings, specification and site instructions, and to inform the  CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS and the Contractor where this is not achieved.
(e) Shall take note of site instructions and any other relevant directives onto the drawings used in inspection, to ensure that they are taken into account during an inspection.
(f) Shall prepare a written list of any points which may require attention, in conjunction with the Engineer, where the Contractor has asked for an inspection. To pass the list to the Contractor’s foreman. To check that these points have been rectified or agreed before this part of the works is covered unless the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS / PRINCIPALS (M&E) advises him that relaxation of requirements has been agreed. A copy of this list should be passed to the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS / PRINCIPALS (M&E).
(g) Shall attend operations where full records are required e.g. testing, etc.
(h) Shall note minor variations which may affect payment and to notify the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS / PRINCIPALS (M&E).
(i) Shall notify the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS / PRINCIPALS (M&E) of any accidents on site and record these in the site dairy.
(j) Shall keep record drawings marked with the dates when testing takes place.
(k) Shall keep a record of the Contractor’s staff and sub-Contractors on site.
(l) Shall record daily attendance at site.
(m) Shall undertake any other work requested by the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS / PRINCIPALS (M&E).
(n) Shall supervise routine tests when requested.
(o) Shall not issue any site instruction viz varying the scope of contract or major design alteration. All site instructions will be issued by the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS/PRINCIPALS (M&E) after having been briefed on the requirements. Shall record all such instructions issued to all parties concerned.
(p) Shall take record of progress of works as and when required and submit to the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS/RESIDENT ARCHITECTS/PROJECT MANAGER.
(q) Shall record all materials delivered on site and copy to the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS and QUANTITY SURVEYOR.
(r) Shall attend site meetings and technical meetings when they are convened.
(s) Should defects occur during the construction time, the Inspector of Works shall take photographic record of such defects and brief the CONSULTANT DESIGN ENGINEERS / PRINCIPALS (M&E) / RESIDENT ARCHITECTS / PROJECT MANAGER on the issue of the same.
