Join DayOne – Shaping the Future of Data Infrastructure
DayOne is a global leader in the development and operation of high-performance data centers. As one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry, we’ve built a robust presence across Asia and Europe — and we’re just getting started.
As we expand into new international markets, we’re looking for talented, driven individuals to join us on this exciting journey. This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to be a key contributor to our dynamic team and help shape the future of global data infrastructure.
If you're passionate about innovation, technology, and growth, we invite you to be part of DayOne’s next chapter.
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Internal Controls Manager to join our second line of defence (LoD2) function, supporting data centre operations across multiple sites and entities. This role is central to maintaining an independent, objective view of our operational control environment — identifying gaps, driving remediation, and ensuring that controls work in practice, not just on paper.
The successful candidate will bring a sharp eye for operational risk, strong audit methodology, and the confidence to engage senior stakeholders with evidence-based findings. Prior experience in a data centre or technology infrastructure environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities
LoD2 Operational Audit & Control Testing
- Plan and execute independent operational control reviews across data centre processes, including facility operations, change management, incident management, physical access, vendor management, and capacity planning.
- Design and conduct control testing programmes to assess both design adequacy and operational effectiveness.
- Document findings clearly, with root cause analysis and risk ratings that are well-evidenced and defensible.
- Issue findings reports and track remediation actions through to verified closure.
Process Assurance & Risk Monitoring
- Maintain a risk-based view of control effectiveness across data centre entities, updating the control risk register as the environment and findings evolve.
- Conduct walkthroughs, interviews, and document reviews to assess whether operational procedures reflect actual practice.
- Identify systemic or cross-site control weaknesses and escalate patterns appropriately.
- Support the development of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Control Indicators (KCIs) relevant to data centre operations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with operational leads, site managers, and process owners to gather evidence, agree on findings, and set realistic remediation timelines.
- Maintain professional independence throughout the audit process, including during escalation where required.
- Liaise with external auditors, ISO certification bodies, and regulatory reviewers as a credible point of contact for internal controls matters.
Reporting
- Prepare clear, concise control assessment reports for senior management and governance committees, covering findings, risk exposure, and remediation status.
- Contribute to periodic reporting on the state of the operational control environment.
Key Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in internal audit, internal controls, operational risk, or process assurance.
- Prior experience in a data centre, technology infrastructure, or complex operational environment is required.
Technical & Functional Competencies
- Solid understanding of operational control frameworks and process assurance methodologies.
- Ability to independently design and execute control tests, from scoping through to findings and reporting.
- Familiarity with data centre operational processes — power, cooling, connectivity, change management, physical access, and vendor oversight.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 (Quality Management) or hands-on QA audit experience is an advantage.
- Exposure to ISO/IEC 27001 or ISO 22301 is valued.
Skills & Attributes
- Independent judgment — able to assess, conclude, and defend findings based on evidence.
- Strong written communication, producing reports that are clear, specific, and actionable.
- Organised and methodical, managing multiple audit workstreams without compromising rigour.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced operational environment while maintaining LoD2 objectivity.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage and challenge stakeholders at all levels.
Certifications (Preferred)
- CIA (Certified Internal Auditor)
- CDCP / CDCS (Certified Data Centre Professional / Specialist)
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or equivalent QA audit qualification
- ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor (advantageous)
