The objective of an International Business Development manager is to expand market presence Internationally by driving strategic partnerships, optimizing distribution channels, and driving sustainable growth.

The role of an International Business Development manager dealing with distribution partners and other channels involves a range of responsibilities aimed at expanding market reach, optimizing distribution networks, and fostering mutually beneficial relationships as below:

Market Analysis and Strategy Development:

  • Conduct market research to identify potential distribution partners and channels within the international market.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to develop effective strategies for market penetration and growth.

Partner Identification and Evaluation:

  • Identify and assess potential distribution partners, resellers, integrators, and other channels based on their market presence, capabilities, and alignment with the company's objectives.
  • Evaluate partner performance, track record, and reputation to ensure they meet the company's standards and values.

Negotiation and Contracting:

  • Negotiate partnership agreements, distribution contracts, and pricing terms to establish mutually beneficial partnerships that drive sales growth and market expansion.
  • Ensure that contracts and agreements comply with legal and regulatory requirements in the target markets.

Channel Development and Enablement:

  • Develop and implement channel development programs to support partners in marketing, sales, and technical aspects of security and automation products.
  • Provide training, sales tools, and marketing materials to empower partners to effectively promote and sell the company's solutions.

Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with distribution partners, channel representatives, and key stakeholders to foster collaboration and drive business growth.
  • Address partner concerns, resolve conflicts, and provide ongoing support to ensure partner satisfaction and loyalty.

Sales and Revenue Generation:

  • Set sales targets, forecasts, and objectives for distribution partners and channels, and monitor their performance against these targets.
  • Implement strategies to drive sales growth, increase market share, and maximize revenue generation through effective channel management.

Market Expansion and New Opportunities:

  • Identify new market opportunities, emerging trends, and potential partnerships to expand the company's presence in the security and automation industry.
  • Develop entry strategies for new markets and coordinate market entry activities in collaboration with partners and internal teams.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, trade laws, and industry standards governing international business operations.
  • Mitigate risks associated with international expansion, distribution agreements, and channel management through effective risk assessment and management practices.         

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Accounting/ Finance/ Business Management.
  • Prior experience in international business.
  • Prior experience in sales required.
  • Prior experience working overseas would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant working experience in a commercial environment.
  • Analytical, flexible and convincing.
  • Good communication skills coupled with the ability to liaise with people internationally, through spoken and written channels and at all levels 
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to manage the coordination of complicated multi-jurisdictional proposals involving multiple business lines.
  • Thrives under pressure and is result oriented.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to work on multiple issues, change priorities and organize workload.
  • Able to “solution sell” where the ability to listen to the clients and understand what they really need is more important than a hard sell.
  • Have excellent negotiation qualities.
  • Able to build and retain strong client relationships.
  • Able to identify and exploit changes in market conditions.
