IT - System Administrator - Hiring Immediately

Primary Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain infrastructure systems and business applications, monitoring and correcting both hardware and software defects in order to provide optimum, highest uptime and continual usage for business operations. Perform regular backups and executing recovery.
• Provides Level 1-2 technical assistance in supporting and assisting users’ daily automated processes and tasks in relation to all business applications and prescribed software.
• Provide Level 1-2 assistance to ships and overseas offices in administering and maintaining infrastructure systems in respective data center / computer room.
• Recognizes and takes action when escalation and de-escalation is required for critical and urgent cases and follow designated procedures.
• A member and involves in appointed / undertaking project(s).
• Provide weekly/monthly status report on work progress.
• To carry out safety and security duties from time to time and be assigned as member of the Crisis Management Team, as and when needed.

Responsibilities include: -

• Provides end-user technical support, and routine operations, for shore or fleet, local or overseas, as and when needed.
• Performs administrative tasks & documentation.
• Ensures maximum availability of IT services by ensuring all IT infrastructure devices are properly configured and maintained.
• Monitors the health of the IT infrastructure, performs analysis and reporting.
• Recognizes and acts when escalation/de-escalation is required for critical and urgent cases and follow designated procedures.
• Performs any other ad-hoc function required by supervisor / superior.  

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma Advanced / Higher, or Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent.
• 1 – 2 years’ experience in systems administration – Windows and Linux environments.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Operational support experience, preferably in a 24x7 environment.
• Creative and objective disposition with strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle high pressure situations and manage priorities with multiple assignments.
• Solid understanding and experience in technical fundamentals: in end-user computing (PCs, printers), Windows, Linux, wired/wireless networks.
• Experience/certification in servers, cybersecurity, network, is an added advantage.

Technical Skills

• General computing skills in Windows, and Linux is required.
• Good understanding of LAN, WAN, and Security.
• Working knowledge & experience with any of VMware vSphere, Dell storage, Exchange, Veeam backup, Backup Exec, Microsoft 365 will be an added advantage.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical skills in business environment & applications requirement understanding to plan for growth and service level maintenance; able to collaborate with team members.
• Liaise with and provide guidance to end-users and to the team.
