Manufacturing Technology Development Staff Engineer (HLA) - Room for Advancement

Key Job Accountabilities:

Qualification & Characterization of Manufacturing Processes

• Collaborate with global team to identify process improvement opportunities, develop standard guideline, derive system and solution to enhance process control and define best practices for standardization across region
• Identify opportunities and improvement project at the region to support roadmap and deploy new capability   
• Establish qualification requirement and qualify manufacturing process material, equipment or method for regional PCBA/back-end mechanical assembly process solution that is cost effective and reliable to achieve operation excellence 

Provide Solutions to Technical Problems

• Participate in the creation and maintenance of the quality system, development of corrective actions, planning of continuous improvements, and supporting the Quality Improvement Process (QIP) to ensure Plexus consistently provides high quality services
• Support quote team for new business opportunity
• Engagement with site SME to establish root causes, perform DoE, implement corrective action on escalated quality issues and proliferate the lesson learnt across regions
• To perform DFM analysis for HLA as part of process improvement or trouble shooting efforts, to identify flaws or short comings in our customer’s product design to feedback to customer for improvement/correction, or to design the process to manage/compensate for it

Drive Continuous Improvement Project

• Communicate and deploy global or regional initiative to standardize assembly process and control requirement at the region
• Represent APAC region, identify gap exist in the current system or process, collaborate with global team for continuous improvement opportunities
• Actively review control plan or control system to ensure is aligned to manufacturing product complexity progression and customer’s requirements
• Establish and document manufacturing best practices to achieve reliable, productive, and excellent quality
• Monitor APAC regions key performance indicators (KPI) and drive the sites to take the action required to meet the KPI target set by global

Mentoring and Guidance

• Provide functional guidance to site SMEs in accomplishing operational objectives and  capable of design a process that is highly capable with minimum process variation
• Provide technical direction and leadership across site/regions to drive/lead best practices and continuous improvement projects, keep abreast of new technology and develop innovative solutions
• Identify areas requires technical competency improvement, establish HLA technical training material and provide training to the region.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

• Degree / Master Degree / PhD in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of working experience in System Integration (SI), High Level Assembly (HLA), mechanical product design and new product introduction
• Knowledge/ Skill requirement: 
  • Geometry Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • DFx in HLA, 8D problem solving, FMEA
  • Statistical analysis, design of experiment (DOE) and familiar with statistical tool, i.e. JUMP or MiniTab
  • Use of design application software, i.e AutoCAD, Pro-E
  • Hand-on skill in Ultrasonic Welding, Heat staking, Heat Seal, Glue and Adhesive dispensing process
  • Image inspection and automation assembly experience will be an added advantage
  • Experience in medical or aerospace product assembly environment are preferred
