Mechanical Engineer

Purpose of the position

This position responsible for the mechanical equipment (static & rotating) management of a large-scale Air Separation plant, producing gaseous and liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon products for our customers. The candidate will need to perform the following for mechanical system:

• Implement the Group's reliability and maintenance strategies, standards, best practices (BOP) and improvement plans to attain and sustain reliability KPI.
• Lead and coordinate daily site maintenance activities (PM, CM) to ensure tasks are completed as planned.
• Optimize resources required for routine and major maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot failures and recommend solutions, produce lesson learnt to share.
• Lead root cause investigation for major unreliability events.

Responsibilities:

1. Equipment maintenance and reliability management (mechanical system).

• Demonstrate safe working mindset and champion safe work culture to internal staff and contractors. Safety awareness to include working at height, confined space and proper PPE requirement for different levels of mechanical jobs. 
• Lead and execute maintenance jobs for equipment such as: compressors (turbo, screw, piston, diaphragm types) /pumps /expander turbines maintenance and overhaul, pressure vessel fitness inspection and CF timely renewal, refrigeration skid maintenance, safety protection device routine testing and maintenance, flat bottom tank/spherical/VIE tank and accessories safety inspection, general anti-corrosion treatment practices, insulation maintenance, coldbox routine inspection etc. to ensure high reliability of such equipment.
• Familiar with CMMS system e.g.: SAP, Maximo or other platforms and able to utilize such system to plan, execute and close work orders for PM and CM.
• Work with contractors and other stakeholders on equipment maintenance, machinery performance degradation investigation and troubleshooting. 
• Fundamental knowledge in thermodynamics, vibration, pneumatics and hydraulics. 
• Well verse with compressor related controls and protection logic.
• Well verse with general mechanical repair and testing methods, able to refer to Group’s standards and/or industrial best practice in repair for safety and long term reliability. 
• Responsible for tools custody, workshop tools (eg: bench drilling machine, welding tools) maintenance.
• Attend daily morning meeting with other disciplines and production team to coordinate efforts in ensuring maintenance works are conducted safely and timely.
• Prepare and review technical documents, maintenance manual, work procedures and provide technical training to staff to improve competencies and consistency.
• Perform periodic review of spares, setup material number in CMMS and review/update sparing strategy and plan for replacement of obsolete parts to ensure sufficient spares readily available when needed. 
• Propose OPEX and CAPEX budgetary proposal for projects, major maintenance and yearly budget planning.

2.  People development

• Develop competencies for technicians and staff.

Requirements:

• Minimum of a Bachelor degree, major in mechanical engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of practical hands-on experience in instrumentation and controls, within the field of industrial gas/ petrochemicals/ oleochemicals.
• Understand basic machine vibration analysis, lube oil analysis, unfired pressure vessel inspection requirements.
• Familiar with DOSH requirement for unfired pressure vessel and hoisting equipment.
• Familiar with API, ASME standards for static and rotating equipment.
• Familiar with ASU operations is a definite advantage.
• Familiar with SAP system maintenance module is an advantage. 
• Required Language: English, Bahasa Malaysia. Mandarin language skills will be an added advantage.
