POSITION OVERVIEW

A data centre is a high-tech powerhouse that generates massive heat—until you bring the cooling to life. As our Mechanical Engineering Manager, you own the "Thermal Environment." You will lead the mechanical life-support systems of DayOne’s hyperscale facilities across Malaysia, ensuring every chiller, cooling tower, and HVAC unit performs flawlessly to keep the internet running.

In this role, you will lead the mechanical operations and maintenance for our mission-critical infrastructure. This requires a mix of hands-on leadership and deep technical knowledge to ensure our cooling and fire suppression systems are resilient, efficient, and 100% reliable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead the Team: Manage our mechanical engineers and technicians. You’ll mentor the team and coordinate 24/7 shift handovers to ensure seamless, around-the-clock coverage.

· Drive Reliability: Oversee the performance of all mechanical infrastructure, including HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, and liquid cooling system. You make sure the "heart" of the data centre never skips a beat.

· Plan the Maintenance: Design and run preventative and corrective maintenance programs. You’ll work with vendors and contractors to upgrade systems with zero impact on our live operations.

· Govern Compliance: Ensure all operations meet health, safety, and environmental regulations. You’ll keep our records audit-ready and maintain the highest standards for mechanical safety.

· Solve the Complex: Act as the technical lead for troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical issues. You’ll collaborate with other engineering teams to keep the entire facility running as one efficient unit.

· Support the Strategy: Help develop initiatives to boost system performance and support our business growth. You’ll also play a key role in budget planning to ensure we stay financially and operationally sharp.

REQUIREMENTS

· The Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

· The Track Record: 7–10 years in mechanical engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role. If you have worked in a data centre before, that’s a huge plus.

· Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, and fire suppression infrastructure.

· Leadership Grit: Experience managing technical teams in a 24/7 operational environment. You stay calm and decisive under pressure.

· Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

· Bonus: Professional Engineer (PE) status or similar certifications will set you apart.
