- Assessment of employees presenting with illness or injuries and the provision of primary nursing care and treatment.
- Liaise with and referral to medical practitioners or other health professionals where deemed necessary. Arrangement of follow-up appointments for further care and assess effectiveness of management.
- Promotes health education amongst employees by:
- Preparation and delivery of packages on health related topics
- Counseling of individual employees and provision of appropriate reference material to assist them to improve their health by means of lifestyle changes.
- Facilitates the rehabilitation of employees by:-
- Prompt and efficient treatment of illness/injuries occurring during working hours.
- Following up on any employee who is or has been off work due to illness or injury, and providing advice or assistance where practical.
- Interviewing employees on return to work, ascertaining what activities they are medially fit to perform and liaising with supervisor, the employee concerned to ensure that suitable alternative duties are secured for those who are not fit to return to their normal duties.
- Planning individual rehabilitation programs.
- Monitoring of employees on return to work and intervening if deemed necessary.
- Ensures that all medical and first aid equipment is maintained in a serviceable condition by monitoring and regularly testing / calibration of the equipment.
- Contributes to the efficient maintenance of a confidential medical records system by recording accurately health center attendances and treatment.
- Carrying out any other duties delegated by the superior from time to time.
