ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY

• OSHPromote good progress and outcomes by pupils in the EYFS
• Be aware of pupils’ capabilities and their prior knowledge, and plan teaching to build on these.
• Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge of the EYFS.
• Contribute to the design and provision of an engaging curriculum.
• To plan for and provide a wide variety of activities for the children that is suitable to their individual stages of development.
• To ensure that child records, such as learning stories and individual profiles are kept up to date.
• To build up relationships with the parents in order to reduce the division between home and school for the child.
• To support pupils’ development and promote independence in a safe, secure, challenging environment employing strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance.

LEARNING AND TEACHING

• To be responsible for a class of Nursery or Pre Nurserey Children (aged 2 - 5 years)
• To implement agreed work programmes for groups or individuals in and out of the classroom
• To contribute to the whole school ethos, environment and organisation both practically and as a positive role model for pupils and colleagues.
• To teach the Early Years Curriculum
• To promote the policies and ethos of the school, e.g. personal and social and to promote positive values, attitudes and good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
• To supervise pupils at break/lunchtimes.
• To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security and to refer all concerns to the Headteacher, receiving training where necessary from the school.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

• To attend relevant courses, including those on Nord Anglia University and those provided by the school to update knowledge as required.
• To take opportunities to develop own areas of interest and expertise and to use these to advise and support others or to organise specific projects.

OTHER

• The Pre-Nursery Class Leader may be called upon to perform other duties that the Principal/Head of Primary considers reasonable.
• To work with teachers and leaders within the EYFS to design the daily/weekly programmes and events to support pupils and make adjustments as appropriate.
• To liaise with other professionals to ensure an appropriate learning environment.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

• Degree
• 3 years experience as an Early Years practitioner or Nursery Practitioner within the English Early Years Foundation Stage
• Teaching qualification (e.g. B.Ed, iPGCE, TEFL, CELTA or CACHE)
• Specialist childcare or Early Childhood qualifications
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for producing reports and presentations.
• Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
• Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
• Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
• Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
